Drunk dad leaves 1- and 2-year-old children home alone (Des Moines, Iowa)
Somehow is suspect that UNNAMED DAD is one of those "stay-at-homes" who is really just a dysfunctional, unemployed/unemployable alcoholic. But it's terribly difficult to get rid of these guys anymore, as they can call themselves "primary parent" in court and get child custody.

DES MOINES, Iowa— Police say a 17-year-old Roosevelt High School student and some companions who were helping a drunken man found two toddlers -- alone and crying -- upon reaching the man's Des Moines home.
Drew Murray, his brother and friends had found the man under a bush about 9 p.m. Sunday. They realized he'd been drinking and insisted on helping him walk home.
When they got to the house, they found children ages 1 and 2 were there, but nobody else.
Police were called. Officers arrested the man on suspicion of child endangerment. His blood later tested out at more than three times the legal limit if he'd been driving.
Officers called the man's wife, who left work and went to the home to care for her children.
