Police say two-month old was dropped by father on stove

A two-month old child was dropped onto an open oven door causing burns to both of the infants arms as well as its head on Saturday, according to a Lexington Police report.

Police received a report fat 6:50 p.m. Saturday that a 2-month old child had been burned. The father of the child was holding the child after consuming alcohol when he dropped the child on the oven, according to the report.

"He tripped and dropped the baby on the open oven door," Lexington Police Lt. Robby Rummage said.

The child's mother made the report of the incident that occurred on Mendota Avenue.

The child was transported to Brenner Children's Hospital and Child Protective Services was contacted. Rummage said Tuesday that the child had been released from the hospital.

An arrest had not been made in connection to the incident on Tuesday. The Lexington Police Department is continuing its investigation into the incident
