Babysitting dad arrested for battering 3-month-old daughter; baby has severe head injuries (Indianapolis, Indiana)

Sounds like dad CODY MONTGOMERY beat up the baby during his visitation time. Why do we assume that all these testosterone-fueled young dudes make good baby caretakers? With very few exceptions, they don't.

Dads who were never married do not need visitation time with infants. The babies do not benefit in any way, shape, or form from the disruption in caretaking.

Montgomery called 911 Sunday night when he was watching the baby because the baby wasn't breathing. When doctors at Riley Hospital for Children examined the child, they discovered the infant had head trauma.

Linda is the baby's maternal great grandmother. She said the family wants to do what they need to ensure the child is safe and they want to get to the bottom of how the baby was hurt.

"I couldn't bare the thought of thinking of how the baby had been in pain. Anything bad would happen to such a precious little angel."

The father's mother, Sonja Wolf, said her son didn't hurt his child. She said she plans to do everything she can to set the record straight.

"I won't stop 'til my grandbaby's safe and if they know if someone did this, who it is."

Linda said the The 3-month-old baby is improving.

"She's smiling and looking around and acting almost like her normal self."

However, doctors can't say if there will be any long term damage yet. The mother's family said they've been told she could go home as soon as tomorrow.

While the case is under investigation, Montgomery is not allowed contact with the child. The baby's mother has had primary custody of the child.
