Dad attacks own grandmother, lacerates face of 2-year-old son (Manton, California)
Yet another case that's curious for what's left out. Dad JEFFERY JACK SARGENT "allegedly" attacked his own grandmother--apparently for calling the authorities--as well as his 2-year-old son. There is NO mention of the little boy's mom, even though the baby is now in the care of CPS. Why? What happened to the mother? Why is she being erased from this story? Did Daddy have custody or visitation?

A 32-year-old Manton man was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly throwing a sippy cup at his 2-year-old son who was inside his crib.
Jeffery Jack Sargent, 32, was upset at his son for unknown reasons before he allegedly threw the cup, Lt. David Greer of the Tehama County Sheriff's Office said today. The boy has since been placed in Child Protective Services.
"The injuries were minor in nature -- a fat lip, swollen nose and lacerations to the lip," Greer said.
Deputies were called to the 32000 block of Wind Song Court in Manton around 6 a.m. Saturday after reports of a domestic disturbance.
Investigators said Sargent also allegedly grabbed his 72-year-old grandmother, Jacqueline Alice Lenkner, who was on the phone. Sargent allegedly twisted his grandmother’s wrist until she released the receiver.
Lenkner complained of pain and had bruises on her left wrist, Greer said
Sargent was arrested on suspicion of corporal injury to a child and elder abuse and booked into the Tehama County Jail. His bail is $100,000.
