Dad kills 6-year-old daughter; "estranged" from girl's mother and "discussing" custody (Winston-Salem, North Carolina)

This is typical. Dads like DEREK MORRIS are pissed that their female partners have left them, and that they can no longer directly control them in the same way. So they murder the kids as a way to get back at Mom in the most painful way possible. Notice in the second article that the parents were "discussing" custody.

I wouldn't be suprised one bit if this guy had a history of domestic violence, and yet still had legal access to this child anyway. When are we going to stop giving custody/visitation to unstable, volatile men like this?

Dudes like this don't want to "discuss" anything or "share" anything. That includes the kids. Talking and sharing  just doesn't feed their need for blood, drama, and dictatorial power over others.

Derek Morris, Iza Morris Found Shot Dead On Old Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem

Winston-Salem, NC--Police in Winston-Salem are investigating two deaths, one a six-year-old girl.

Thursday, around 3:25pm, Officers with the Winston Salem Police Department were dispatched to a house on Old Rural Hall Road, after someone reported deceased persons inside.

Investigators found six-year-old Iza Lily Morris and her father Derek Morris dead inside the house.

Police said preliminary autopsy results revealed that Iza Morris died of multiple gunshots to her head. Derek Morris died of a single self inflicted gunshot.

Both father, and daughter were found inside the Iza Morris' upstairs bedroom.

According to investigators, Derek Morris was estranged from his wife, who was Iza's mother.

Iza Morris' aunt, who is also the six-year-old's mother's sister, said Iza's mother was out of town due to the death of her sister.

Iza would have turned seven-years-old in nearly two weeks on November 28th.

"She was a precious little girl and anything that happens to hurt a child just hurts me. I just don't see the sense in hurting a child," said Neighbor Linda Lankford.

Winston-Salem Police said on Friday that the investigation is still ongoing.

Winston-Salem, N.C. — A 6-year-old girl and her father have been killed in what Winston-Salem police are investigating as a murder-suicide.

He says Morris and his wife were estranged and that the couple was discussing the custody of their daughter.
 Police say 6-year-old Iza Lily Morris and 32-year-old Derek Morris each suffered a single gunshot wound. Their bodies were found Thursday afternoon inside their home.

Police Lt. Rob Cozart says authorities aren't looking for a suspect. He says Morris and his wife were estranged and that the couple was discussing the custody of their daughter.

Forsyth County tax records show the house where the bodies were found is owned by Derek and Sarah Morris.
