"Steaming drunk" dad breaches restraining order because he wanted contact with 2-year-old son (Monkton, England, United Kingdom)
This is the problem. It is assumed that dad RICHARD THOMAS O'HARE simply engaged in the wrong procedure, that he should have reinstated contact with his 2-year-old son through a third party. But that's not the problem at all. Violent, alcoholic fathers who have a history of breaching restraining orders should NOT have ANY contact with young children. No custodial rights. No visitation. Period. It's when these guys have access that we end up with dead kids.

Father faces magistrates for breach of restraining order
12:40pm Monday 7th November 2011
A Monkton father, who breached a restraining order that protected the mother of his child, appeared before magistrates on Monday.
Richard Thomas O’Hare, aged 31, of Haven Court, Monkton, was arrested after he visited his ex-partner Cerys Evans on October 19.
The court heard that O’Hare was given a restraining order in February after he punched Miss Evans, and had decided he wanted to see his two-year-old son.
Prosecutor David Weale said that O’Hare arrived “steaming drunk” to Miss Evans’ house, and got in.
He said: “Miss Evans describes the look on Mr O’Hare’s face as evil, which frightened her.”
Alun Morgan, defending, said that the breach involved very minimal direct contact.
He said: “Mr O’Hare wanted to reinstate contact with his son, but he should have done it through a third party.”
O’Hare admitted breaching his restraining order and magistrates adjourned the case until November 24 He was released on bail and given a curfew from 7pm to 7am.
