Dad with history of DV assaults 3-year-old son during weekend custody/visitation (Jackson County, Mississippi)
The names sounded vaguely familiar so I looked them up to see if we had posted on them before. Sure enough, dad NATHAN BLAKE MCCRORY has a history of domestic violence and had weekend custody/visitation. Of course, the media "forgot" to tell you about it this time....

Jackson County father accused of child abuse
3-year-old’s wounds include suspected cigarette burns, bleeding on brain
UPDATED 2:30 PM CDT May 10, 2016
PASCAGOULA, Miss. —A detective testified 3-year-old Zander Saucier had at least 30 wounds to his body, including suspected cigarette and lighter burns and bleeding on the brain, when he was brought to Singing River Hospital last month.
The Sun Herald reported that the boy's father, Nathan Blake McCrory, 24, is accused of causing the injuries to his son. McCrory was in Jackson County Court on Monday for a preliminary hearing on felony charges of child abuse and one count of marijuana cultivation.
Judge T. Larry Wilson determined there was enough evidence in the case to be bound over to a grand jury for indictment.
Detective Eddie Clark testified at the hearing and talked about some of the other injuries Zander suffered.
McCrory claims the boy suffered the injuries by falling down the stairs.

Abusive, alcoholic dad gets custody of 5-year-old boy after getting help from Mexican police, U.S. State Department in tracking down mom (Knox County, Tennessee)
Judge Varlan is a woman-hating idiot who is either willfully ignorant about domestic violence or just doesn't give a sh**. 'Cause he just knows the mother is lying about the father's alcohol abuse and physical violence, cause, well he just knows. Misogynists always "know" that it's the woman who is lying.
Actually, Mom is very credible. If she wanted to sound more "convincing," she could have said the father abused the boy as well. In reality, it is not uncommon (at least in the early stages) for the father to abuse the mother but not (directly) abuse the children. (Emotionally, however, he is abusing them by diminishing their caregiver.) That the mother was dependent on him for financial assistance is also reality, and that she tried to let the abuser see the boy is also common. Battered moms really do try to be nice and accommodating. They really do. But apparently Mom couldn't take it anymore so she ran. At a terrible sacrifice to herself. This is not a decision that mothers make lightly.
And of course, because abusers are control freaks, he chased her down with the help of the Mexican police AND the U.S. State Department. Gosh, we don't have any drug dealing murderous gangs to worry about anymore? No other international issues of pressing importance? Who knew? Two governments magically cooperate and collaborate to help the batterer track down a battered woman like she was a rabid dog so he reclaim his child/property.
So now, the child is actually at very high risk. Daddy has to take on the responsibility of full-time caregiver, when he is a short-tempered abuser with a traumatized child. And, of course, he wants to punish mom in the worst possible way.
This is partly what happens when you give never married fathers "rights" over women and children. Sickening. And when you turn the Hague Convention into little more than a "slave catching" operation to benefit abusive men.
Dad is identified as EUGENIO GARDUNO GUEVARA.

Judge orders boy, 5, returned to Mexico in international custody battle
April 19, 2016
By Jamie Satterfield of the Knoxville News Sentinel
In the first ruling of its kind in East Tennessee, a federal judge is ordering the return to Mexico of a 5-year-old boy at the center of an international custody battle.
Chief U.S. District Judge Tom Varlan is siding with Mexican father Eugenio Garduno Guevara in a rare case brought under The Hague Convention of 1980 International Child Abduction Remedies Act in a fight over the boy Guevara fathered out of wedlock with Mexican mother Alma Soto Soto.
Soto spirited the boy away from Mexico and into the U.S. illegally in 2013 after the couple, who had been living together and sharing custody, split up. Guevara spent two years tracking down mother and child, using the Mexican police, The Hague Convention treaty, the U.S. State Department and Facebook, before finding the pair living in Knoxville.
The case ultimately landed in front of Varlan, the first time the federal court system here had been tapped to decide under the treaty which country — Mexico or the U.S. — had authority to decide custody.
In his ruling, Varlan noted the treaty did not authorize him to decide which of the two parents was the fittest but rather was designed to prevent parents from court-shopping among foreign nations.
"One of the main purposes of the ICARA is to prevent parents from removing children from the country of their habitual residence to a more sympathetic court in order to have a 'home court advantage' in custody determinations," Varlan wrote.
It will be up to a Mexican court now to decide the boy's custodial fate.
Guevara and Soto had the boy out of wedlock in Mexico in 2010 but lived together with him until March 2013 when Guevara moved out. A month later, the boy and his mother disappeared. Guevara eventually found mother and son via a photograph posted on Facebook, showing Soto and the boy at the Wichita Falls Park in Wichita Falls, Texas. But she disappeared with the boy again. The pair resurfaced in late May 2015 in Knoxville when she sought custody through Knox County Juvenile Court.
Although Varlan did not weigh in on which of the two was most worthy of custody, the nature of the case did require him to consider allegations typically aired in a domestic courtroom. He first had to decide if Guevara had visited and supported his son after he and Soto split.
"In the three-week period of separation when the child was in Mexico, (the father) visited with the child on four occasions, including one overnight visit," Varlan wrote. "(He) also provided (Soto) and the child with some degree of money and food support."
Varlan also had to sort out conflicting claims between the pair. Soto, via attorney Scott Saidak, claimed Guevara was a mean drunk, and the boy would not be safe in Mexico. He denied that.
Varlan didn't buy it.
"While (Soto) submits that (Guevara) had an alcohol problem and abused her in the past, she does not allege that (the father) abused the child," Varlan wrote. "(She) also allowed (him) to visit with the child multiple times when they were separated, and testified that (he) supported the child with food and money during the period of separation, both of which tend to show that plaintiff would not subject the child to serious abuse or neglect if the child were returned to Mexico."
A second case under the treaty is now pending in U.S. District Court. That one involves a father living in London and a Bangladeshi mother living in Knoxville with the couple's twin babies.

3-year-old critical; dad arrested on abuse charge in Jackson County
By MARGARET BAKER
JACKSON COUNTY -- A 3-year-old boy is in a Mobile hospital with critical wounds caused by his father, authorities said.
Nathan Blake McCrory, 24, is being held without bond at the Jackson County jail on charges of felony child abuse and manufacturing a controlled substance. He was taken into custody Monday.
Zander Saucier was taken to Singing River Hospital on Sunday because of a reported fall. The staff felt the injuries were inconsistent with a fall and reported their suspicions to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff Mike Ezell said McCrory, who is not Zander's custodial parent but had him over the weekend, took him to his own mother and told her her grandson had fallen down the stairs at his home on Rayford Shumoch Road in the East Central community.
McCrory's mother called 911 and Acadian Ambulance took Zander to the hospital. McCrory did not go to the hospital to check on his son, Ezell said.
Singing River did initial treatment, then had the boy airlifted to USA Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile, where he is in the pediatric intensive care unit.
Ezell said Zander had additional bruising on areas of his body, which were consistent with abuse. Ezell said the boy's injuries are "serious."
"It's bad," he said. "It's real bad."
A prayer vigil for Zander is planned for 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Nugent United Methodist Church, at John Clark Road and Old Hwy. 49 in Gulfport.
McCrory was also arrested on the felony drug charge, the sheriff said, after deputies found he was cultivating marijuana.
An initial court appearance has not been set.

Dad arrested for abusing 8-month-old son after spending day in dad's custody (Avon, Ohio)
Dad is identified as MICHAEL GARCIA. As so often happens, it is not clarified whether Dad's access was court-ordered, and if so, by whom. Needless to say, a guy with this background should not have had any visitation at all, especially with a helpless infant.

SAN DIEGO - A father could face up to 14 years in jail if he’s found guilty of endangering his 9-year-old daughter.
The girl was found to be living in a backyard shed with her father and his 29-year-old girlfriend.
Joe Tavolazzi, 60, and his 29-year-old girlfriend Kimberly Bradeen were arrested Thursday along with six other adults at a property on the 12700 block of Lindo Lane in Lakeside.
Team 10 found out Sheriff's deputies responded to 19 complaints against the Lakeside home in the last two years.
One neighbor told 10News, “Nothing good was happening in there.”
Last Thursday, deputies searched the entire property. Their search quickly focused on the shed that contained a shot gun, a .22-caliber rifle and 8.1 grams of methamphetamine.
In court today, deputy district attorney David Williams III, told a judge there was a serious danger to the child. Via closed circuit TV, Tavolazzi pleaded not guilty to child endangerment and other felony charges.
A judge set his bail to $190,000 and ordered him not to have contact with his daughter. Bradeen also pleaded not guilty to similar charges except the one related to child endangerment. She also faces a charge of being an addict in possession of a firearm and a stun gun.
Shortly after deputies made arrests Thursday, a 10News crew went to the home and encountered hostility. One unidentified person used profanity at our crew.
The girl’s uncle, Ted Tavolazzi insisted the girl had access to a bathroom in the house 100 feet away.
“She was well taken care of, that's enough!” said Ted Tavolazzi.
Deputies say despite the conditions, they found the girl to be in decent health. She’s in the custody of Child Protective Services.
Tavolazzi and Bradeen will be back in court on April 20. They will be charged and tried as co-defendants.

Custodial dad gets 2 YEARS in prison for murder of 2-year-old son (Danielson, Connecticut)
(Intentionally?) misleading headline. The "parents" were not involved with this. The neglectful custodial dad and his heroin-addicted girlfriend were. WHO GAVE THEM CUSTODY? Not a word, as usual. Dad is identified as DAVID MAHAN.
Our sympathies to the mother, who is finally named.

Putnam father sentenced to two years for role in toddler's death

DANIELSON – The parents of a toddler who choked to death after being left unsupervised inside a Putnam bedroom in 2014 left Danielson Superior Court on Friday, the father to begin a prison sentence and the mother to continue piecing her life back together.
A few minutes before Judge Hope Seeley sentenced 32-year-old David Mahan to two years in prison for his role in the death of his 2-year-old son, the victim’s mother, Katelyn Kaeppel, stood nervously in the foyer of the court building.
“I’m not staying for the sentencing,” she said. “I don’t feel it’s necessary. I just wanted to make sure my son was getting justice. I lost a child, but so did David. So did both our families. I’m still angry, but I want nothing but the best for him.”
Mahan pleaded guilty in January to second-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a child. Under a plea agreement, Mahan was sentenced to seven years in prison, suspended after two years, and five years of probation.
According to court documents, on March 26, 2014, Peterson left the boy and his 1-year-old sibling alone in a locked bedroom for hours with bowls of dry cereal for food while she dropped one of her two children off at school and later drove to a Willimantic methadone clinic for treatment.
Mahan, an electrician with the Mercier Electrical Co. in Auburn, Mass., was reportedly at work when Peterson came home and found the boy not breathing and unresponsive in the bedroom.
After Peterson called 911 and began CPR, emergency personnel arrived and took the child to DayKimballHospital in Putnam, where he was pronounced dead. An emergency room doctor observed what appeared to be food in the victim’s airway, police said. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the child’s cause of death was by choking on a bolus, or a mass of chewed food. The death was ruled a homicide.
Peterson told police she had routinely left Mahan’s children alone for several hours a day since mid March 2014, when Mahan returned to work after a layoff of five months, according to an arrest warrant. In a statement to police, Peterson said Mahan was aware she was leaving his children alone and told her to “just lock the children in the bedroom while she went to the clinic,” until other day care arrangements could be made, according to the warrant.
“He callously disregarded the risk to his children,” AssistantState’s Attorney Sarah Fallon said. “And that led to (the child’s) death.”
Our sympathies to the mother, who is finally named.

At a press conference on Saturday, Trumbull Police Chief Michael Lombardo said the department would be devoting all of its resources to safely return Ariel Revello, 7, after his father Rodolfo Revello, 43, violently took the child from his Unity Road home.
According to police, the boy was located in Queens, N.Y. shortly after 5 p.m. when his father called Trumbull Police and said he was leaving the child with a relative. Officers in New York responded to the address and located the boy safe and unharmed.
The investigation remains active and police are seeking to obtain a warrant for the arrest of the father, Rodolfo Revello on multiple charges.
Police extended the search into New York because Rodolfo has a listed residence in Greenwich. New York State Police, Connecticut State Police and the New York Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
Lombardo said there was a possibility the child and his father are in New York but said authorities were not certain about what city or burrough the two could be in.
Police responded to the home on Unity Road around 4:30 a.m. for the report of a domestic incident.
The child’s mother and estranged wife of Revello sustained cuts, bruises and abrasions during the violent incident. Revello obtained a knife from the kitchen, but he was disarmed by his 17-year-old stepson.
The victim jumped out of a bedroom window and hid in the yard. She was taken to a local hospital and has since been released, Lombardo said. No other injuries were reported.
Revello took several thousand dollars worth of cash and jewelry before he left the residence in a 2015 white Ford van with Connecticut registration CO40379.
The victim had a restraining order against Revello that is active until September, said Lt. Leonard Scinto, police spokesman. He has visitation rights with his son. Police have been called to the residence in the past for incidents.
Rodolfo’s criminal history includes convictions for assault, disorderly conduct, violation of conditions of release and two DUIs. He was also convicted in federal court of distributing cocaine.
According to court documents and statements made in federal court, Revello supplied cocaine to members of the Stamford Chapter of the Latin Kings, who then sold the drugs to their own customers.
He was arrested in 2011. He was sentenced to five years of prison in 2012 followed by four years of supervised release.
Federal records show he was released on September 16, 2014.
Police ask anyone with any information to either contact Trumbull Police at 203-261-3665 or 911.

Teen son on trial for killing violent drug-addicted custodial dad (Coeur D'Alene, Idaho)
Notice that the process by which this abusive nutcase of a father gained custody of his two sons, one of which had autism, is kind of glossed over. It didn't just happen. Unless mothers have the full support of the police and the courts, these kinds of fathers routinely get custody because they're scary and obsessed with control.
Dad is identified as ELDON SAMUEL, JR.

Defense: Violent father abused kids, obsessed over zombies
By Associated Press |Thursday, January 21st 2016
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) Eldon Samuel Jr. was a violent man who was hooked on prescription drugs, owned numerous weapons and was preparing his sons for a zombie apocalypse, his estranged wife Tina Samuel told the court Wednesday.
The couple's 16-year-old son, Eldon Samuel III, is being tried as an adult for killing his father and his autistic brother, reported the Coeur d'Alene Press.
He was 14 at the time of the March 2014 killings.
Tina Samuel described her husband as controlling and moody. She lives in California and said Eldon Samuel Jr. moved to Idaho with their two boys when the couple separated.
She said younger Eldon Samuel listened to and learned from his father, who had prepared to load a trailer with guns and other weapons, water, and canned food and take the family high into the mountains in the event of a zombie apocalypse.
"He was trained to be ready when the zombies came," said Tina Samuel, who said the father taught his sons to use knives and guns and cut of the heads of rattlesnakes for fun "Shoot them in the head or chop off their head. That's the only way to kill a zombie."
Eldon Samuel III is accused of shooting his father and shooting, stabbing and hacking at 13-year-old Jonathan Samuel repeatedly with a machete. The teen called 911 that night and officers found him standing out front in bloody clothes.
Officers said the teenager told them he feared his father, who beat him, would kill him.
He told police his dad was high on painkillers, fired a gun outside the house and started talking about zombies, according to court records. Samuel said his dad also started hitting and pushing him. He told police he shot his father and then went after his autistic brother, who was hiding under a bed. Samuel blamed Jonathan's disability for the family's problems, according to the police transcript.
Tina Samuel said her husband's demeanor changed after he became addicted to prescription drugs after some work injuries.
"It got so much worse over the years," she said.
Before the couple broke up for good, they moved 20 times. Tina Samuel said they were evicted "every place we lived at" because Eldon Samuel Jr. didn't pay the rent.
She said her teenage son often missed school and was bullied when he did go.
Teachers from Lakes Magnet Middle School testified that the missed days hurt his development and grades, but that Samuel was quiet, polite and tried to learn when he showed up.
A pediatrician said the teenage Samuel reported that his dad physically abused him and that he lived on one meal per day.
A dentist who treated Samuel after his arrest said his teeth were also in horrible condition from chronic neglect.

Putnam father to be sentenced to two years in toddler son's death

DANIELSON — A Putnam man will be sentenced in March to spend two years in prison for his role in the 2014 choking death of his 2-year-old son.
David Mahan, 31, on Tuesday pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a child, according to prosecutors in the Danielson Superior Court’s state’s attorney’s office. Under a plea agreement, Mahan on March 1 is scheduled to be sentenced to seven years in prison, suspended after two years, and five years of probation.
Mahan and his former girlfriend, Renee Peterson, 33, were arrested nearly two years ago in connection with the death of Mahan’s son inside the couple’s apartment at 129 Mechanics St.
According to court documents, Peterson on March 26, 2014, left the boy and his 1-year-old sibling alone in a locked bedroom for hours on the day of the incident with bowls of dry cereal while she dropped one of her two children off at school and later drove to a Willimantic methadone clinic for treatment.
Mahan, an electrician with the Mercier Electrical Co. in Auburn, Mass., was reportedly at work when Peterson came home and found the boy not breathing and unresponsive in the bedroom.
After Peterson called 911 and began CPR, emergency personnel arrived and took the child to DayKimball Hospital in Putnam, where he was pronounced dead. An emergency room doctor observed what appeared to be food in the victim’s airway, police said. According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the child’s cause of death was by choking on a bolus, or mass of chewed food. The manner of death was determined to be homicide.
Peterson told police she had routinely left Mahan’s children alone several hours a day since mid-March of 2014, when Mahan returned to work after a layoff of five months, according to an arrest warrant. In a statement to police, Peterson said Mahan was aware she was leaving his children alone and told her to “just lock the children in the bedroom while she went to the clinic,” until other day care arrangements could be made, according to the warrant.
Shortly after the boy’s death, Mahan was arrested by Massachusetts state police on fugitive from justice charges.
In August, Peterson was sentenced to serve five years of a seven-year sentence, along with five years of probation. She pleaded guilty on June 5 to second-degree manslaughter and risk of injury charges in the child’s death.

Drunk, abusive formerly custodial dad assaults daycare worker for not handing over kids (Ronan, Montana)
It appears that this drunken lunatic of a father had custody before he lost it to CPS. Notice that there is NO MENTION of the mother. The unnamed girlfriend does not appear to be the mom, and I think daycare would have recognized the mother of these kids had she been caring for them.
So what happened to Mom? Who gave the idiot custody to begin with?

Day Care Worker Assaulted for Not Handing Over Children to Drunken Father
October 14, 2015
By Kevin Sawyer
A Montana day care worker was severely beaten and injured when she tried to protect three young children form a drunken father. A day care worker in Ronan, Montana was violently attacked when she refused to hand over three of her charges to the father of the children because he had no legal custody and because he was drunk. Martha McClure has been hospitalized for her injuries and remains afflicted with double vision due to the attack.
Francis Jackson, 31, father of three children who attend Martha’s Mini Day Care Center, showed up there last week accompanied by a woman who has not been identified. He demanded that his three children, all of whom are younger than 4 years old, be handed over to him, according to The Huffington Post.
When Jackson showed up at the day care center, he demanded that McClure release his children into his custody. McClure told police that she could smell alcohol on Jackson and refused to let the children go. McClure was aware that the Salish and Kootenai Tribal Child Protective Services had recently revoked Jackson’s custody rights and that he was not allowed to be anywhere near his children. The Child Protective Services agency currently has the legal custody of Jackson’s children.
When Jackson became agitated, McClure managed to push Jackson out of the room they were in and secured the door behind him. Jackson, then, became enraged and began hurling children’s toys, which included a small tricycle, at the dividing windows in an effort to get in. McClure, then, went out into the other room to confront Jackson and the woman that was with him.
McClure and Jackson were having angry words when the other woman smashed McClure in the face with a snow shovel. Jackson, right after, punched McClure in the face and then both Jackson and the woman hurried from the building without taking the children.
Jackson was arrested by police on the Kalispel Indian Reservation and was immediately charged with aggravated burglary. The woman who was with Jackson has yet to be arrested or identified. Police say charges and decisions are pending regarding the woman who hit McClure in the face with a snow shovel.
McClure had surgery done to her eyes and face and a social media photo shows her with two black eyes and some severe facial bruises and injuries. Her stepdaughter stated that McClure is “still in high spirits” and is anxious to return to work.

4-year-old boy ordered to visit drug-addicted father who previously threatened boy's mother with shotgun (Australia)
The brutal triumph of the fathers rights movement--and the death of decency and common sense.
Gosh, what could possibly go wrong here?

Boy, 4, ordered to visit ice dad

A four-year-old boy has been ordered by a judge to spend at least two hours a fortnight with his father despite evidence the father had been using the drug ice and served jail time for allegedly threatening the mother with a shotgun.
The father had also previously threatened to slit his own throat with a knife and had taken the boy without consent at least twice and spirited him interstate.
Federal Circuit Court judge Warwick Neville made orders in Canberra for the boy to spend “no less than two hours per fortnight” with the father at a contact centre.
The father, known as “Mr Tierney”, had been fighting the mother to spend regular, substantial time with his son and had denied using ice.
But his drug screen showed he had been using methylamphetamine and the prescription painkiller Endone, also dubbed “hillbilly heroin”.
He also denied previously threatening the mother with a shotgun and instead said that he had been threatening to shoot himself.
Mr Tierney urged the court to allow him to care for his son every second weekend and every Tuesday after school.
But the mother, who was legally represented, said the boy should live with her and spend two hours a fortnight with the father while supervised at a contact centre.
Judge Neville said the father’s previous threats of violent self-harm and positive drug test “alone warranted” that his time with the child “should be supervised”.
He made interim orders for fortnightly supervised contact until a report from a court- appointed psychiatrist could be prepared.
It is not clear whether the mother of the four-year-old boy felt uneasy about her son spending time with his father.
However, Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnston said she came across many cases in which mothers felt pressured to agree to court orders they did not feel were in their children’s best interests to avoid being seen as trying to alienate the other parent.
“No court should ever allow a parent to make that decision” and lawyers should fight harder to ensure they did not do so, she said. “We see it all the time and we hear it all the time and it’s heartbreaking,” she said.
“These are parents who want to protect their children from clearly dangerous partners, who are being advised by their own legal representation, because of the way the system currently works, to make decisions that are not in the best interests of their own children.”
She questioned how super- visors at a children’s contact centre could guarantee the safety of the boy if the father arrived under the influence of ice or armed with a weapon.
The West Australian mother of “Abbey” — a 17-year-old girl who committed suicide after being forced to spend time with her pedophile father — told The Australian yesterday that she had felt pressured to consent to family law orders for her daughter to have contact with her ex- husband even though her “gut said no”.
“You are thrown into this system where you have to consent,” she said. “My gut said no ... but there is pressure from all around you. It’s the best-case scenario in a no-win situation.”

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - 27-year-old Michael Livesay has been indicted on felony charges of injury to a child after the drowning death of his daughter Vera.
Emergency crews were called out to the 6100 block of 37th Street just after 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 23 in reference to a possible drowning. The infant was taken by ambulance to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to the arrest warrant, Livesay says he woke up with his daughter at 8 a.m. Wednesday and around 8:45 a.m. placed her in the bathtub in a bathtub seat before turning the water on.
Livesay says he scooted the infant toward the drain so the water was on her feet.
Livesay says he left the bathroom with the water still running. He says he then sat on the couch in the living room around 9 a.m. but fell asleep while Vera was alone in the bathtub. Around 9:15 a.m., Livesay woke up and realized Vera was still in the bathtub.
Livesay says he found his daughter face down in the bathtub full of water. He says the bathtub was two inches from overflowing. He grabbed Vera and ran to a neighbor's house, but says no one would help call 911. So, he ran back to his house and performed CPR on Vera for five minutes.
Livesay then called 911. Livesay told investigators at the scene that he had smoked marijuana on Tuesday. Livesay says this was the second time he had accidentally left Vera in the bathtub. The previous incident happened on September 18. He says the incident on Friday happened because he went to make coffee and had a towel stopping the drain. He says he saw the bathtub seat begin to rise in the water and got Vera out.
No other children were home at the time.

Girlfriend of custodial dad arrested in murder of 17-month-old boy; what happened to Mom? (Seattle, Washington)
LOTS of unanswered questions here.
FIRST, who decided to give sole custody to a father, AT MINIMUM, who was neglectful and very possibly physically abusive himself? Let's see the name of the judge, please. Along with all the social service people who went along for the ride.
SECOND, why wasn't Daddy arrested for failure to protect? Mothers are routinely arrested for this when their boyfriends hurt or kill their kids, even if the POS was beating and threatening them as well.
But no. At minimum, Daddy dumped caretaking responsibilities on a suicidal, self-cutting woman with drug addiction issues. What could possibly go wrong?
THIRD, There was previous evidence that abuse was taking place. Why didn't Dad intervene? Maybe because he was also an abuser and he and his enabler family were happy for the girlfriend to take the hit? Why did CPS let a custodial dad off the hook, as they so often do?
FOURTH, why has the murdered boy's mother been completely erased from the story?

Police arrest woman after West Seattle toddler's death
By LYNSI BURTON, SEATTLEPI.COM STAFF

Seattle police arrested a 20-year-old woman Thursday in connection with the death of a 17-month-old boy in West Seattle.
Court records indicate the woman, after her arrest, admitted kicking the baby twice in the abdomen the day he died.
Officers responded to the 6500 block of California Avenue Southwest last Sunday after the woman found the baby -- her boyfriend's child -- unresponsive in his crib, police reports say.
The baby's father attempted CPR and called 911, court records say, but medics declared the boy dead at the scene.
The King County Medical Examiner ruled Tuesday that the child's death was a homicide.
The couple lived together in West Seattle with the father's 17-month-old child and the woman's 2-year-old boy.
The baby was examined at Children's Hospital on Sept. 20 for an unrelated matter, when doctors noticed suspicious-looking cuts and bruises on the child and referred their concerns to Child Protective Services, according to the probable cause affidavit. The boy was nonetheless released to his father.
The boy's father and his father's girlfriend were his sole caregivers.
A week after the doctor visit, medics responded to the family's home about 4:12 p.m. and found the boy pale, cold to the touch and covered in vomit. The boy had no known medical conditions, court records say.
Police examining the boy in the back of an ambulance noticed blood coming from his left ear and bruises on his face and body, documents say. They alerted the Homicide Unit to the case.
An autopsy determined the boy died of severe abdominal trauma.
Initially, neither the 20-year-old woman nor her boyfriend appeared to know what happened to the child.
The woman told police the boy had been mopey in the week before his death, according to the probable cause. The day he died, his father went to the store while the woman was giving the boy a bath and later put him down for a nap because the boy was "wobbly" as he walked.
She denied she or her boyfriend ever assaulted the boy, but said her own son sometimes abused the child.
A couple that stayed at the family's home for a few days in September told investigators that the woman struggled with drug addiction and became angry and agitated toward the 17-month-old boy when she was on drugs or suffering withdrawal symptoms, reports say. The couple said the woman would spank or flick him, but nothing forceful. However, they expressed concern about her screaming at him when he cried.
A forensic search of the woman's phone indicated that her boyfriend and his family accused her of killing the boy, court records say.
Authorities served a warrant at the family's home about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, only to find the boyfriend reporting that his girlfriend had tried to kill herself the previous night by cutting her legs, the probable cause states. She reportedly did not admit to killing the boy, but he and his family thought she did, he told police.
Police detained the woman and took her to police headquarters. There, she admitted to kicking the boy twice after he and her son fought over a toy, police reports say. She claimed the first kick knocked the child down and then she delivered a second blow. She then said she put the boy in his playpen and noticed he stopped breathing a short time later.
Cops booked her into King County Jail for investigation of homicide and she remains held on $1 million bail.

New charges against custodial dad accused of leaving dead baby daughter in crib for weeks (Medina, Ohio)
Notice how the media is now "forgetting" to mention that this father who was allegedly and insane cokehead living in a motel was granted sole custody of two kids. Why don't we ever hear about that?
Dad is identified as ERIC WARFEL. We've posted on him before.

MEDINA, Ohio -- A Medina father accused of leaving his dead baby daughter in a crib for a month is facing additional charges.
A Medina County grand jury on Wednesday handed up a four-count indictment charging Eric Warfel, 35, with child endangering and possession of cocaine charges, according to court documents.
The new charges were added to the gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence charges that Warfel already faced after a cable company employee discovered 1-year-old Ember's body in a crib in Warfel's apartment in the Forest Meadows complex July 29.
Warfel remains jailed on $1 million bond after he pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence charges.
The child's death remains under investigation, according to the Medina County Coroner's Office.
The new charges allege that on June 18, the day investigators estimate that Ember died, as well as on July 26-28, Warfel endangered a 7-year-old child whose name was redacted.
Warfel's father wrote in a letter asking Judge Christopher Collier to reduce his $1 million bond that Warfel's 7-year-old daughter "means everything to him."
The 7 year old has been in the custody of other family members since Warfel's arrest, officials said.
The new indictment also alleges Warfel possessed an unspecified amount of cocaine on July 28 and 29.
Detectives said in late July that they found what they suspected was cocaine in a room at a Middleburg Heights motel where Warfel had been staying in the days leading up to the discovery of the child's body.
Warfel's case is set to go to trial in November.

Joint custody dad gives teen daughter cocaine, takes her to strip club (Doral, Florida)
Given that this is in Florida, one of the worst states in the US for women and children, nothing will change. After the press coverage blows over, dad JOSE MANUEL ARGUELLES will have the same rights as before. That is if he doesn't manage to get full custody by arguing that the mother was "alienating" him from his daughter or "interfering" with his custody time.

A Florida dad may have taken father-daughter bonding a step too far when police say he invited the 16-year-old girl to a strip club and gave her alcohol and cocaine.
Jose Manuel Arguelles, 59, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with child neglect, delivering a controlled substance to a child and eight counts of sexual performance by a child.
The criminal investigation also led to a temporary closure of the Pink Pony Gentlemen’s Club in Doral following a police raid.
Arguelles is accused of taking his daughter and her 17-year-old friend to the Pink Pony on multiple occasions.
During these outings, according to a police report, the teens were allowed to dance on stripper poles, drink alcohol, snort cocaine and smoke marijuana.
The mother of the 17-year-old girl, who allegedly accompanied Arguelles and his daughter to the club, said she went to the police after discovering videos and pictures on the teen's phone showing her dancing on stage in the adult club, according to CBS Miami.
Mr Arguelles, a self-described club promoter, shares custody of his 16-year-old daughter with his ex-wife.
When questioned by police, Arguelles admitted to bringing his daughter and her friend to the Doral strip joint and allowing them to consume alcohol, according to the report.
The teenagers told detectives that Arguelles has taken them to the Pink Pony several times since March, when his daughter turned 16, reported Miami Herald. The girl also reportedly confessed to doing drugs and drinking inside the club.
In the wake of the raid on the Pink Pony, the owners have a week to bring their case before a magistrate to reopen the club.
Arguelles’ attorney, Chris Mancini, argued during a bond hearing Wednesday that his client was being overcharged. He insisted that allowing a teen to dance on a stripper pole does not rise to the level of promoting sexual performance by a child.
NBC6 reported that Arguelles has been ordered held on $45,000 bond and barred from having any contact with his daughter or her friend.

Sole custody dad pleads not guilty for reasons of insanity; 18-month-old daughter's body found decaying in crib (Cleveland, Ohio)
Getting caught up on cases over the past week or so.
We posted on dad ERIC WARFEL earlier. Notice that the press is no longer mentioning that this POS had sole custody, much less delving into what POS judge gave it to him.
We've been previously told that the mother had drug problems too. Fine. But Daddy now claims he's crazy in addition to his OWN drug problems and basically being homeless.
Please explain to me just how it is the Killer Daddy is the superior parent. I'm not seeing it.
Looks like classic Father Favoritism to me.

CLEVELAND (Reuters) - An Ohio man charged with leaving the decomposing body of his 18-month-old daughter in a crib surrounded by garbage entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity on Monday, according to Medina County court documents.
Eric Warfel, 35 was charged with one count of abuse of a corpse after a cable installer discover the body of Ember Warfel late last month in his apartment south of Cleveland. She had been dead for at least a month.
Prosecutors added a tampering with evidence charge, also a felony and set bond at $1 million. They said they expect more charges once a cause of death for the child is determined.
Police found cocaine in the motel room where Warfel had been living before the discovery of his daughter. Drug possession and endangering children charges are expected, according to prosecutors.
Police are also looking into the 2013 death of Warfel's 5-month-old child whose cause of death was ruled undetermined by a Cuyahoga County medical examiner.
Warfel will receive a psychological evaluation and Medina County Common Pleas Judge Christopher Collier set a pretrial date for Nov. 5 and a trial date for Nov. 9.

Custodial dad sentenced to 16 years for stabbing death of 6-year-old son (Los Angeles, California)
Convicted child killer ALEJANDRO SANCHEZ was a custodial father--though that fact is not reported here. True to one of our major axioms here at Dastardly Dads, the killer dad's custodial status is typically "forgotten" by the time he goes to trial.

Father sentenced to 16 years to life in stabbing death of 6-year-old son

A father who stabbed his 6-year-old son to death last year was sentenced Aug. 3 to 16 years to life in prison.
Alejandro Sanchez, a 39-year-old Latino, pleaded no contest in June to second-degree murder and using a knife to kill Nathan Sanchez inside a small white trailer behind their home in South L.A. in June 2014.
Sanchez was under the influence of methamphetamine when he killed his son, prosecutors said. Authorities said Sanchez was found standing in his front yard on East 88th Street, speaking incoherently.
Nathan’s body was found on a bed inside a trailer tucked behind a home in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood.
Nathan had been stabbed with a kitchen knife and later died at St. Francis Medical Center. Sanchez’s sister, Yolanda Sanchez-Santoyo, told The Times last year that she was stunned by the boy's death.
“He was my nephew and I loved him very much,” Sanchez said.

A Las Cruces father charged in 2011 with intentional child abuse after he allegedly gave alcohol to his 15-year-old son, who later died, is now facing one count of child abandonment resulting in death, according to a superseding indictment returned July 17.
Joe A. Torres and Heather C. Soto were arrested on July 27, 2011, nearly two weeks after their son, Joey "Baby Joe" Torres Jr., was taken off life support at University Medical Center in El Paso, the Las Cruces Police Department reported.
Torres Jr., a sophomore at Las Cruces High School, was found unconscious in a home on the 1100 block of Gardner Avenue, where he was living with his father and stepmother, on the morning of July 4, 2011, according to previous Sun-News reports. The couple tried to resuscitate Torres Jr. for about half an hour before calling 911, police reported.
Torres Jr. was then rushed to a Las Cruces hospital before being transported to UMC. At the El Paso hospital, the couple initially denied the teen had consumed any alcohol or drugs, the previous reports state.
However, about five hours later at the hospital, the couple admitted to police that Torres Jr. had been drinking beer, wine and brandy with them the previous night and into the early morning, police reported.
Authorities later discovered text messages on Torres Jr.'s cellphone, which "stated he was getting drunk" with Torres and that Soto "had prepared alcoholic beverages for him made of E&J (brandy) and two types of wine," according to Torres' indictment.
Torres Jr. had a blood-alcohol content of 0.115, and medical personnel also found opiates in his system, according to the previous reports. Torres Jr. also had a blood sugar level of 570 — several times higher than normal — and emergency workers gave him a shot of Narcan, a drug that reverses the effect of drug overdoses, according to a police report.
Medical personnel told detectives their inability to determine what Torres Jr. had taken hampered their ability to treat him, police reported.
"(Torres) was questioned for 5 hours before he ultimately told medical personnel and law enforcement that his child had been drinking. The delay in medical care resulted in complications in treatment," the indictment states.
Torres Jr. never regained consciousness, the previous news reports state, and he was taken off life support. He was pronounced dead the morning of July 14, 2011.
According to police, Torres Jr. had moved to Las Cruces to live with his father and stepmother in May 2011. Before that, he lived in Colorado, where he had received therapy for suicidal tendencies, alcohol abuse and overdosing on medication, police reported.
The case against Torres, now 43, has been pending for several years. Online court records indicate a grand jury originally charged him with intentional child abuse resulting in death, a first-degree felony that carries a life sentence. Torres was later charged with child abandonment resulting in death and negligent child abuse resulting in death, which prosecutors dismissed July 17, when a grand jury returned the one-count, superseding indictment.
According to the 3rd Judicial District Attorney's Office, child abandonment resulting in death is a second-degree felony that carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
Torres is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 3 before District Judge Manuel Arrieta in 3rd Judicial District Court in Las Cruces.
On June 19, Soto, now 35, pleaded no contest to one count each of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and selling or giving alcoholic beverages to a minor — both fourth-degree felonies. Her sentencing has been deferred for three years, according to court documents, and she was placed on unsupervised probation.
Dad is identified as JOE A. TORRES.
