Dad kills 6-year-old daughter in "spousal revenge" murder; had "regular visitation" with girl (Davie, Florida)
Notice that this piece of sh**--identified as dad PAUL ANDRADE--had regular visitation rights...which he used to gain access to his murder victim, his own daughter. Plus he gets called a "nice person" to boot. The coddling of dangerous daddies goes on and on....

Dad, daughter and dog's death appears to be 'spousal revenge' murder-suicide
By Tonya Alanez, Sun Sentinel

DAVIE — The motive behind the tragic Thursday morning murder-suicide of a father and his 6-year-old daughter appears to be a classic case of "spousal revenge," the horrific act of sacrificing a child's life to inflict everlasting hurt upon an ex, experts say.
"In spousal revenge cases, in general, the statement is that they want the spouse, the ex, to feel badly, to feel guilty, to feel loss," said Sara West, a forensic psychiatrist and assistant professor at Case Western Reserve University's department of psychiatry in Cleveland. "This seems like a pretty clear case of that."
Paul Andrade, his daughter Amira and a dog were found dead early Thursday inside a Nissan Quest minivan outside the Davie Corral apartments at Stirling Road and Davie Road Extension, where the girl's mother, Vicky Paredes, lived.
Andrade, 30, of Hollywood, and Paredes had broken up about a year ago and she had recently remarried. "The father was upset over that," Davie Police Capt. Dale Engle said.
The neighborhood awoke to the desperate screams of a mother clutching her dead daughter in her arms.
"I just heard screaming at 6:30 in the morning. She was crying for help," said a neighbor, who preferred not to be identified. "You could hear the hurt; you could just feel her pain."
The deaths appear to have been caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.
Two youngsters walking to school notified neighbors after seeing an aluminum hose running from the exhaust pipe of the silver and blue minivan into one of its rear windows.
When police arrived, Engle said, they saw the distraught mother rocking her daughter in her arms. First responders attempted to revive the girl, Engle said, but it was too late.
According to Engle, the father had regular visitations with his daughter. He had one such visit Wednesday night.
Andrade's body, covered in a white sheet, was removed from the minivan at about 10 a.m. and placed into a coroner's van. Soon after, Paredes, conscious and clutching a stuffed animal, was taken by stretcher into an ambulance.
Nearly a dozen of her co-workers from Broward Research Group, a Pembroke Pines clinical research facility, dressed in pink and lavender hospital scrubs, huddled nearby, some holding their tear-streaked faces in their hands.
The last to come and go was an animal control van. The dead dog was taken away in a black plastic trash bag.
"Almost 15 percent of all persons arrested for homicide are parents killing their children, so it's not an uncommon phenomenon," said Phillip Resnick, a professor of psychiatry and an expert on "filial" killings, also from Case Western Reserve University.
Parents who commit "filicide," or kill their own children, are divided into five categories, Resnick said. They are:
Altruistic filicide, resulting from the belief that a child is better off dead than alive;
Unwanted-child filicide, where the child is perceived to be in the way, often committed by young mothers who discard their newborns;
Psychotic killing in a confused or delirious state with no comprehensible motive;
Fatal abuse, the most common type of child killing, is battery taken too far;
And spousal revenge, accounting for about 4 percent of child murders, is the least common of the five.
"I've killed the children, so you will suffer as much as you made me suffer, that would be the classic spouse revenge," Resnick said. "It is kind of the ultimate revenge."
Anna Vivieca, Andrade's landlord in the 5700 block of Taft Street, said she never would have expected such a brutal statement from her tenant, a mild-mannered, friendly ice cream truck driver.
"He was a really nice person. He never gave us any indication that he was sick or had depression or anything like that," Vivieca said. "Vicky is a wonderful person also. They were really good people. I can't say anything bad about them."
Vivieca described Andrade's daughter, who frequently played with her own sons, ages 3 and 5, as a "beautiful" and "talkative" child.
"I knew they had their ups and downs, and she moved out, and he continued living here," Vivieca said. "I'm shocked. It's kind of hard to hear of this tragedy. It's kind of overwhelming."

Monday sentence for dad in missing child's death
DETROIT (AP) — A Detroit father who prosecutors say faked a carjacking to cover up the slaying of his 2-year-old daughter faces sentencing Monday for first-degree murder and child abuse.
A jury convicted 32-year-old D'Andre Lane on Oct. 12. The law requires Wayne County Circuit Judge Vonda Evans to sentence him to life in prison without possibility of parole on the murder charge.
Lane told police that daughter Bianca Jones was in the back seat of his car in Detroit's North End neighborhood on Dec. 2, 2011, when the vehicle was taken at gunpoint.
The car was found less than an hour later, but the girl was no longer inside.
Bianca's body has never been found.

Judge sentences Illinois man to life in prison for killing wife, 3 children in 2007
BY DON BABWIN, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, NOVEMBER 27, 2012
JOLIET, Ill. - A suburban Chicago man was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday for killing his wife and three school-age children as they sat buckled into the family's SUV — allegedly so he could start a new life subsisting in the Canadian wilderness.
The sentencing of Christopher Vaughn, 37, came two months after jurors found him guilty of killing his 34-year-old wife, Kimberly, and their children on June 14, 2007. Each child was shot once in the chest and head.
The judge sentenced Vaughn to four consecutive life sentences with no possibility of parole. Vaughn did not make a statement in court.
Kimberly Vaughn's twin sister, Susan Ledbetter, poignantly described her pain, telling the court how she occasionally walks by a mirror and sees her sister's image and how she hears her sister's laughter whenever she laughs.
"I silently wonder if my parents and older sister experience pain in my presence because Kim and I share not only our looks but also many of our personality traits," she said, weeping as she read her impact statement to the court.
Vaughn, who lived with his family in a spacious Oswego home, faced a mandatory life term for the killings. But the hearing in Joliet gave relatives a chance to confront him and to convey how much pain he caused.
The 2007 murders started out as a death penalty case, slowing the pace to trial. But Illinois has since abolished capital punishment, making life in prison the maximum penalty.
"There isn't a punishment that fits this crime," Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow told reporters outside the courtroom after the sentencing.
"What this guy did here was a diabolical atrocity, and he's a heartless, soulless, psychopath," Glasgow said.
Vaughn murdered his family members, prosecutors say, because he saw them as obstacles to his dream of a new life in Canada. He posted wistful Internet messages about building a cabin and settling in the Yukon cut off from the world.
According to prosecutors, Vaughn woke his family on the day of the killings promising a surprise trip to a water park. But shortly after 5 a.m., he pulled off the road, shot his wife, then killed 12-year-old Abigayle, 11-year-old Cassandra and Blake, 8.
Abigayle was found holding a stuffed animal; Blake's wounds indicated he had raised his arm to shield himself.
Kimberly Vaughn's father, Del Phillips, described his own struggle since then in a statement read to the court by a prosecutor. He said the loss has made him hesitate before he hugs his other grandchildren.
"Emotionally, as a result of these four executions, I have unwittingly withdrawn from playing with my surviving grandchildren," the statement said.
At trial, defence attorneys told jurors that Vaughn's wife was to blame, saying she was suicidal over marital strife. They suggested she shot her husband in the wrist and leg, then killed the children and herself.
Prosecutors balked at that theory, asking jurors whether it seems reasonable that a woman who disliked guns could have shot her husband twice, only grazing him each time, but fatally shot each of her children with a marksman's precision.
They said Vaughn shot himself to make it look like his wife carried out the attack. Prosecutors said Vaughn showed little emotion after the shootings and was more interested in his damaged clothing than his family's fate.
Kimberly Vaughn's mother, Susan Phillips, told reporters she hoped the trial's conclusion might allow them to begin to heal and to strengthen relationships with friends who she said no longer knew how to speak to them after the killings.
"People started to cry before we ever say a word, and then we end up being the comforter," she said. "But in a way that's also I think part of our closure, we're able to give."
She said the family never suspected Vaughn was capable of committing such a crime.
She described her son-in-law as introverted and pre-occupied with computers and his BlackBerry, but said that as a teacher she knew children who behaved similarly and didn't think much of it.
"It wasn't peculiar at that time," she said.
Del Phillips, however, recalled how his son-in-law seemed not to know how to hug or play with his children and that he appeared to be studying the grandfather's interactions with them so he would know how to behave. He said Vaughn was skilled at portraying emotion at the right moments.
In hindsight, he said of Vaughn, "He's the evil in the night."
He said he wished Vaughn would have said something at the sentencing hearing.
"'I'm sorry' would have been a good one," Phillips said. "If he would have just said that, it would have helped a little bit on the closure aspect."

Kids more likely to be injured under dad's supervision (Australia)
Are they saying that running over your kid with your SUV is "rough-and-tumble" play? Hmm.

TWICE as many boys are admitted to hospital from playtime injuries as girls, and children supervised by their fathers are at higher risk of getting injured.
Falls caused the most injuries for children of all ages up to 14 years, mostly falling from play equipment or tripping on the ground, followed by accidents on bikes.
New statistics from the Australian Bureau of Health and Welfare show that of the 60,000 children admitted to hospital each year, toddlers were most likely to be poisoned by medication, while playground falls were most likely to send children aged 5-9 to the emergency department.
Older children were most commonly injured by rollerskating and skateboarding.
US researchers have found that playtime under a father's supervision leaves children more likely to end up in hospital, most likely because they engaged in higher-risk rough-and-tumble activities with their dads.
And Royal Children's Hospital trauma surgeons have issued a warning about boys riding motorbikes after treating eight boys in one week in August - three on one day - with life-threatening injuries.
The hospital has also seen a rise in boys aged 9-12 being seriously injured after being run over by four-wheel-drive vehicles while riding skateboards or scooters in driveways in the past two months.
"Studies show that 85 per cent of the time parents of children who have been injured or killed thought they knew where the child was," RCH trauma services manager Helen Jowett said.
Dylan Fragiacoma, 11, was lucky to survive after he was run over by his dad's 4WD in their driveway on Monday while lying on his skateboard. He suffered three broken ribs and a collapsed lung, almost severed his fingers and may need skin grafts on his knees.
"I heard the skateboard crack but it wasn't until I got out that I knew I'd run him over," said his father, Chris White.
"It surprised me how quickly and easily it can happen."

Dad accused of exposing children to meth (Morgan County, Alabama)
I can't help but wonder if this was a custody/visitation situation. If the mother had been living in the home with the father, it's very likely she would have been charged as well. But on the contrary, we're told the children are "now" in the "care of their mother." Does this mean they weren't in her care before? As usual, the news accounts aren't terribly clear. Wonder who the "family member" was who told the authorities about Daddy. The fact that a "family member" had previous suspicions about the father (but apparently not the mother?) also suggests to me that the mother did not live in the home.
Dad is identified as DON EVAN ROBINSON III.

13-year-old girl allegedly raped by father, brother, uncle in Kerala
Edited by Sabyasachi Dasgupta | Updated: November 27, 2012 21:30 IST
Thalassery: When a 13-year-old class 8 student in Kerala's Kannur refused to go home after school and would incessantly cry, her teachers discovered a shocking tale of abuse. The child was allegedly raped over the last two years by her father, her 15-year-old brother and her uncle.
The teachers called the police and the two men have been arrested and a case of rape has been registered against them; the boy has been sent to a juvenile home. The girl is now housed at a home run by the Child Welfare committee where she will be counselled.
But tales of horror continue to emerge. The police have now found that the victim's older sister died two years ago - she allegedly committed suicide. An investigation has been opened to find out if she too was abused by the men of the house, but the cops haven't found anything suspicious so far. The child has reportedly told her teachers that the sister killed herself to escape similar abuse.
The family is poor. The girl's mother works as coolie, said KC Rosakutty, who heads the Kerala Women's Commission which is overseeing investigations in the case. She said the victim's mother claims she had no idea about the incident. Ms Rosakutty said, "It is very sad that the mother is also not coming forward and reporting the case. This shows the situation in the house. She might be afraid of her husband."
The commission has offered to take the girl under its care. Ms Rosakutty also said that it might write to the chief minister for an enquiry into the elder sister's death. Congress activist Suma Balakrishnan has also approached Home Minister T Radhakrishnan seeking a thorough probe into both the cases as well as the arrest of all those involved in the two crimes.
"This is a shocking case of two minor sisters being raped by family members. The police say the elder sister committed suicide. But this needs to be probed as no proper inquiry was done," Ms Rosakutty said.

A 23-year-old Suffolk man pleaded guilty Monday to malicious wounding, child abuse and other charges stemming from the shooting of his 3-year-old son during what police said was a confrontation with the boy's mother.
Michael Anthony Goodman Jr. faces up to 48 years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 4, Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Marie Walls said.
Goodman was arrested June 15 after the shooting at the home of the boy's mother, Ashley Williams, on White Marsh Road.
Police at the time said Williams had just arrived with her two children and a male companion. Goodman got into an argument with Williams in the foyer of the apartment building and fired in the direction of the male companion, police said. The bullet struck the child in the shoulder.
Police said Goodman and the other man took the child to the hospital. The child was released several days later and has since recovered.
Goodman pleaded guilty to malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, child abuse resulting in serious injury, child abuse with disregard for life and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Two other charges were dropped in a plea agreement, Walls said.

Toddler son dies during court-ordered visitation with dad; Mom's concerns for boy's safety ignored by courts (Montgomery, Maryland)
Sickening story. But mainstream media exposure of family court incompetence/corruption is very welcome--and still all too rare.
The "alleged" killer dad is JOAQUIN S. RAMS. Notice that he is now "suspected" in earlier deaths, in addition to being a rapist and producer of pornography.

Death of a toddler raises questions in Montgomery, Pr. William
By Editorial Board, Monday, November 26, 6:52 PM
PRINCE McLEOD RAMS, age 151 / 2 months, was taken off life support after being declared brain-dead at 8:38 p.m. Oct. 21 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. A day earlier, paramedics had found him unresponsive, cold and without a pulse at his father’s home in Manassas, where he had been on his fourth unsupervised visit permitted by Montgomery County Circuit Court amid a bitter custody battle. His mother had fiercely opposed unsupervised visits. “If anything happens to Prince, he can’t say anything. He’s not old enough to be talking,” Hera McLeod of Gaithersburg testified at a court hearing on July 12.
The cause of Prince’s death is yet to be determined. Officials at Prince William Hospital, where the boy was first brought on Oct. 20, notified Child Protective Services, citing, according to records, “obvious unexplainable injuries.”
Prince William County Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul B. Ebert said a criminal investigation is underway. The probe, a spokesman for the Manassas police confirmed, is being coordinated with an investigation into the 2003 murder of the father’s ex-girlfriend, with whom he had a child, and apparently new questioning about the 2008 death, ruled a suicide, of his mother. The father, Joaquin S. Rams, did not return calls in recent days seeking comment.
It’s not known yet whether Prince’s death could have been prevented, but the case should cause soul-searching by officials in Montgomery County family court who lifted supervision of the toddler’s visits and by Prince William law enforcement agencies who investigated earlier incidents involving the father. “A faulty and callous legal system,” Prince’s grandfather wrote the judge, sent the boy to a death that was “at best . . . neglect. At worst . . . murder.”
Whether or not the grandfather’s suspicions prove to be founded, there is an all-too-typical script to family court battles: Distraught mothers often are dismissed, and seemingly competent fathers overvalued, by courts understandably reluctant to deny parents access to their children. Women who warn of danger are seen as vengeful or “crying wolf.” Traumatized by abuse, many of them don’t make ideal witnesses. Fathers pleading to be a part of their children’s lives are welcomed as a refreshing change from the deadbeat dads courts are accustomed to.
These stories play out in courts that are often seen as undesirable by the people who work there. “I’m in Family Law because I have to be. It’s a required 18-month rotation. I don’t like it. And if I could choose not to do it, I would not do it,” said Circuit Court Judge Michael J. Algeo, who oversaw the custody battle over Prince, on March 14.
Ms. McLeod, an intelligence analyst for defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton, met Mr. Rams through an online matchmaking service in February 2010. She became pregnant in October, and the couple became engaged in December and she moved in with him. On July 17, 2011, two weeks after Prince’s birth, Ms. McLeod’s sister, then 19, said Mr. Rams forced her to have sex. He countered it was consensual. Ms. McLeod moved out, hired an investigator and sought custody of their newborn.
It turned out there was much about Mr. Rams she had not known. At the custody proceeding, a Manassas police detective testified that Mr. Rams was a suspect in the still-unsolved 2003 murder of his ex-girlfriend Shawn Katrina Mason because he had motive and opportunity.
Mr. Rams testified that he is innocent. A report by a Prince William social worker noted that Mr. Rams believed himself (wrongly) to be the beneficiary of Ms. Mason’s life insurance policy.
Mr. Rams acknowledged that adult pornography was produced in his home. He lived, according to information presented in court, on Social Security benefits to his other son and savings from his mother’s life insurance policy. “It seems,” Ms. McLeod’s attorney told the court in November 2011, “that people around him . . . sometimes die under mysterious circumstances.”
Judge Algeo awarded Ms. McLeod sole legal and primary physical custody of Prince in March. A court evaluator had concluded that her safety concerns were justifiable, and a retired Montgomery County police officer was appointed to supervise weekly, three-hour visits at a county mall. Just months later, Mr. Rams was allowed unsupervised, all-day visits at the Virginia home he shared with his other son and the couple that owned the property.
Any review has the benefit of hindsight, and investigators have yet to conclude what role, if any, neglect or intent played in Prince’s death. But hours of court testimony and pages of documents reveal unsettling issues about the decision to allow unsupervised visits.
For the psychological evaluation, why was Mr. Rams allowed to pick a psychologist who specializes in working with children with autism-spectrum disorders and who belongs to the same practice as the therapist who works with Mr. Rams and his older son? Was there, as an expert called by Ms. McLeod testified, a failure to conduct tests that could more properly identify possible risks? Should the court evaluator who found safety risks in March have been consulted again before the child was taken out of state to a home that had not received a site visit?
Judge Algeo, through a spokesman, declined comment, citing judicial canons. It’s apparent from transcripts of the June 29 and July 12 court hearings that he was reassured by testimony from the retired police officer, who saw no problems during the supervised visits and expressed no concerns. He was pleased with Mr. Rams’s claims of having a job and taking down a pornography Web site, noting, “He has done what I asked him to do.”
Ms. McLeod has started a blog to call out those who she believed failed her baby and to call attention to a broken system that trusted her enough to give her legal and physical custody of a child but didn’t trust her warnings of danger. “The courts refused to treat me like anything but a vengeful woman,” she said. Tragically, she now believes she has cause to be one.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) - Court testimony shows what led police to charge a Kalamazoo Township man following the death of his 4-month-old son.
Tahj Oneal Lockett remains in the Kalamazoo County Jail facing a charge of first-degree child abuse in the death of the son who shared his name.
In a probable cause hearing, police gave a judge a glimpse into their case against baby Tahj's father, detailing what they believe happened in the moments before the infant died.
The testimony alleges a horrible story of abuse and accidents. Even Judge Julie Phillips -- a judge who hears cases all the time -- was moved by the details of of the baby's death.
"I find probable cause," she told the testifying officer at the end of the testimony. "That's so sad."
An autopsy on the 4-month-old Tahj revealed extended abuse.
"The pathologist reports bruises upon bruises upon bruises," a Kalamazoo Township officer told the judge.
And police said it appears that Tahj Lockett Sr. caused those injuries.
"He does admit that he bit his son over and over throughout his son's body," the officer said.
The 20-year-old was charged last week with intentionally abusing the baby in the Kalamazoo Township apartment he shared with the boy's mother. Lockett was home alone with the child all night while the boy's mom was at work.
"He also admits that he dropped his son, while holding onto him with one arm, in the bathroom and believes that his son may have struck his head on the toilet," the officer said to the judge.
When the boy's mom came home on Nov. 19, she found baby Tahj not breathing. His father left the home before police arrived on scene.
When police were able to talk with him, the officer said, he admitted to being under the influence of drugs.
"He did admit that he had been smoking marijuana all day and uses marijuana to self-medicate as he claims that he has mental issues," the officer said.
Lockett is not charged with murder. Police said they are waiting on the results on toxicology and other tests before other charges may come.
Lockett does have an extensive criminal history dating back to when he was 13 years old.
He is scheduled to be back in court Dec. 4 for a preliminary hearing.

Father hacks 2-year-old daughter in Parañaque

MANILA, Philippines—A two-year-old girl was rushed to hospital after being hacked several times by her father inside their home in Parañaque City Monday, police said.
Police Officer 2 Arlyme Katakutan identified the girl’s father as Mark Palobos, 31, who was seized by neighbors and turned over to police.
The girl was rushed to the Parañaque Doctors Hospital but her condition was unknown.
The incident happened inside their home on El Dorado Street in Barangay (village) Don Bosco, Parañaque City around 3 p.m.
“Based on the initial information, the father got hold of a bladed weapon and started hacking his child,” Katakutan said.
The girl suffered three cuts in the nape. She also sustained burn injuries in the arm, Katakutan added.
Meanwhile, a radio report had it that Palobos brought the bloodied child outside their home and continued hacking her.
When his neighbors tried to stop him, Palobos set on fire a motorcycle, causing burn injuries to the victim, the report said.
The neighbors made a citizen’s arrest on him and turned him over to police.
Police said Palobos was given medical examinations. Jamie Marie Elona

Dad charged with beating, stabbing mom during child custody exchange (Burbank, California)
The so-called DV experts piously tell mothers to get out of these marriages to abusive men, then force them into joint custody. It ends up being a freaking disaster. All it accomplishes is extending the father's opportunities for violence and control.
Dad TRINO GODINEZ has been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, carjacking, domestic violence, and child abuse.
Stop giving criminal fathers any custody/visitation rights, and this will stop.

Man accused of beating, stabbing ex-wife in child custody exchange
November 25, 2012 | 8:00 am
A 48-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his ex-wife during a child custody exchange in Burbank on Wednesday was arrested after witnesses intervened and held the suspect down, police said.
The man -- identified by police as Trino Godinez -- was meeting his ex-wife near San Fernando Boulevard and Buena Vista Street about 8 a.m. to exchange their two children, Burbank Police Officer Joshua Kendrick said.
Both children were in a car with their mother.
During the meeting, Godinez allegedly took out a handgun and forced the woman out of the driver’s seat and took control of the car.
While driving away, Godinez was allegedly hitting the woman, who was in the passenger seat.
She attempted to flee by getting out of the car, but he followed her out, police said.
He then allegedly held her down and began stabbing her with a knife.
Nearby witnesses rushed over and reportedly wrestled with Godinez, tying him down until police arrived.
The woman, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital for treatment and is in stable condition, Kendrick said.
Godinez -- arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, carjacking, domestic violence and child abuse -- was also taken to a hospital for his injuries.
He was being held Wednesday in lieu of $1-million bail.
While police don’t encourage civilian intervention, the individuals who freed the woman “quite possibly saved this lady’s life,” Kendrick said.

Boy "disappears" after dad parties with "multiple" women in motel room; where is the mother? (Phoenix, Arizona)
Lots of unanswered questions here. Why did UNNAMED DAD have his 3- and 5-year-old sons with him alone in a motel room? What the hell was Daddy doing partying with these "multiple women" (prostitutes?) while the boys were present? Seems Daddy got drunk, and at least one of the women rolled him (took his wallet), stole his car, and took the youngest kid.
What happened to the mother of these boys? What the hell were they doing with a father like this?

PHOENIX -- The day-long search for three-year-old Stephon San Miguel ended late Thursday night.
According to ABC15 , San Miguel's father passed out inside a Motel 6 near Instate 17 near Indian School Road on Thanksgiving Day. When he woke up at 1:30 p.m., San Miguel's father's wallet, vehicle and three-year-old child were missing.
He called police at 1:45 p.m, but as day turned to night local officials had trouble locating the young boy.
However, thanks to a woman who called in after seeing a local news report on the missing child, officer James Holmes of the Phoenix Police Department said the child was eventually found unharmed at a house between 25th Avenue and Jefferson.
Despite the company of both his three-year-old and five-year-old children, San Miguel's father was reportedly with multiple women in the motel room Wednesday night.
Two women have been detained regarding the incident. San Miguel's father is also being questioned.

PORTLAND, Maine — A South Carolina man has been charged in U.S. District Court with sending child pornography to a local man.
Daniel Cobb, 37, of Rock Hill, S.C., was arrested Nov. 15 and charged with transportation of child pornography, according to documents filed Friday in federal court in Portland.
Rock Hill is located about 70 miles north of Columbia, the state capital.
A federal judge in Columbia, S.C., ordered that Cobb be held without bail. His initial appearance in Maine has not been set. It could not be determined Saturday if he has been transported to Maine or not.
Cobb allegedly traded child pornography with David Muise, 26, of Portland who was arrested Oct. 12 at his home, which he shared with his daughter and son, both under the age of 5.
Cobb’s children both are under the age of 10, according to court documents.
Muise is facing the more serious charge of sexual exploitation of a child.
The men came to the attention of investigators in September after the Portland man allegedly sent a photo of his genitalia over a clothed child sleeping on her stomach to a Canadian girlfriend in Langley, British Columbia. The woman contacted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who alerted American authorities.
Muise, who is being held without bail, admitted that he had shared child pornography with others, including a person using the email address doyawill@yahoo.com. Investigators traced that email address to Cobb, according to court documents.
An examination of Muise’s computer indicated that he and Cobb made “extensive sexual comments about each other’s daughters” in online chats. The two fathers appeared “to be sharing sexually explicit photos and videos” of the victims and also [to be] actively molesting them for each other via web cameras,” the affidavit filed in support a warrant to arrest Cobb said.
If convicted, Cobb faces a mandatory minimum of five years in federal prison and a maximum of 20. Muise faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of $250,000.

OXFORD — A 20-year-old father accused of severely burning his infant daughter in October will face felony assault charges in Chester County Court.
Jorge Louis Colon, of Oxford, is charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and related offenses for allegedly scalding his infant daughter, Kiara, while bathing her on Oct. 13 at the family’s home.
District Judge Scott A. Massey ruled the prosecution, led by Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Pitts, presented enough evidence to hold all charges for the Chester County Court of Common Pleas.
Officials said Colon was bathing his daughter, who was suffering from a colic condition, in a kitchen sink when he became frustrated as she began to cry. In his frustration, police said, he turned the water to a scalding temperature and allowed it to contact his daughter’s body.
Chester County Detective Matthew Gordon, who arrested Colon, testified that he interviewed Kiara’s parents after officials at Jennersville Hospital issued a child abuse form to authorities. Gordon then met with the parents at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center’s burn unit, where the infant was receiving treatment for critical burn injuries.
Colon and his wife, Maria Ortiz, agreed to meet Gordon and other investigators at the Oxford Police Station for an interview the following morning.
Gordon said Colon told investigators that he turned the water from warm to hot after losing his temper. Then the baby screamed.

Dad allegedly strangled to death 4-month-old daughter for crying; is this custodial dad? (Lubbock, Texas)
There is no mention whatsoever of there being a mother in this home. If there had been, I think she would have been mentioned--either in regard to her trying to intervene in this @$$hole father's murder of this baby for "crying," or in regard to her "failure" to intervene.
Killer daddy is identified as JACOB TANGUMA. Is this a custodial dad as well??? What happened to this baby's mother???

New details from the investigation into the death of a four-month-old child Tuesday were revealed in the murder warrant for the infant's father. 19-year-old Jacob Tanguma remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
A police report outlined Tanguma's statement to a detective about the chain of events that led to his daughter's death.
It said Tanguma was fired from his job on Monday and was very stressed. The report stated that he became angry after his daughter repeatedly woke up screaming overnight.
It said Tanguma admitted to grabbing the infant's throat and squeezing very tight for a couple of seconds at one point.
When his daughter began to cry again later, the report said Tanguma pushed down hard on her torso several times. He eventually fell asleep with the child on a futon.
The report said Tanguma woke up slouched over the child. Her lips were blue, and she was limp.
LPD received a call just before 9:00 a.m. Tuesday about an infant at the Middleton Place Apartments who was not breathing. EMS paramedics transported the baby to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Two-year-old son tries to stop dad from beating, strangling mom (Hollywood, Florida)

Hollywood toddler tried to protect mother during beating, police say
Report says two-year-old child intervened as his mother was being beaten
By Erika Pesantes, Sun Sentinel 5:58 p.m. EST, November 20, 2012
A 2-year-old Hollywood boy wedged himself between his parents early Monday in an attempt "to protect his mother" as his father sat atop her and slammed her face into the ground, police said.
Henry Valladares Matamoros, 27, was arrested for domestic violence and ordered held on $131,000 bail during his hearing in first appearance court Tuesday. It was unclear whether the child was harmed during the alleged beating.
Police say the ordeal began about 3 a.m. Monday when Matamoros threatened to use a knife to kill Mirna Perez, the woman he has lived with for nine years and the mother of his two children.
In the attack at their home in the 2400 block of North 59th Avenue, Matamoros attempted to strangle Perez and squeezed her neck to the point that she started to black out, according to the police report.
Matamoros is also accused of hitting the woman with a belt throughout her body.
Perez tried to escape through the front door, but Matamoros restrained her for 10 hours, kicking the phone away from her each time she tried to call 911 for help, police said.
He also threw a beverage can at Perez, grabbed her arms, pulled her hair and held her down to keep her from escaping, according to the report. Perez was finally able to contact police when Matamoros left the home about 1 p.m. Monday, police said.
Matamoros told police that he and Perez had been arguing and began pushing each other. He admitted to hitting her with the belt that was on the living room floor when police arrived.
At police headquarters, officers noted that Perez needed medical attention for injuries including bruises on her stomach, hips, legs, both arms and chin. She also had a scratch on her neck, police said. Hollywood-Fire Rescue tended to those injuries at the station.
Broward County Judge John "Jay" Hurley ordered during Tuesday's hearing that Matamoros have no contact with Perez or the young boy.
"The court's also concerned with the emotional damage done to the 2-year-old by witnessing his mother get strangled and beaten to the point that he attempted to rescue his mother," Hurley said. "The court believes you represent a danger not only to Ms. Perez but to the 2-year-old."
Matamoros was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, simple battery, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment and depriving of means to protect or communication.
In 2010, Matamoros was arrested for domestic violence against another alleged victim, but no formal charges were filed in that case, the prosecutor said.

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police said detectives arrested the father of a 4-month old child, after U-S-A hospital employees alerted them to a case of possible child abuse.
Police arrested 21-year-old Brock Olison on Tuesday and charged him with aggravated willful abuse of a child, he has since been released from Metro County Jail.
Detectives were called by USA Children's and Women's Hospital staff Friday, whom recognized the signs of abuse in the child's injuries.
“The mother apparently she was at work or away from the house, came home and found the child would appear to be lethargic and vomiting and that's when she decided to take it to the hospital to get checked on,” said Corporal Christopher Levy, spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department.
Levy described the injury as a closed wound; the type of injury caused by shaking a child.
Detectives contacted Olison and interviewed him.
“And we were able to determine he was responsible for the actions,” said Cpl. Levy.
There’s no word Wednesday from the hospital on the child's condition, but police say he will stay with his mother.
“DHR was notified and they have determined that the mother is going to be able to take the child as long as he doesn't have any contact with Mr. Olison,” said Cpl. Levy.
Staff members at Olison's Mobile apartment community were surprised by the news, they said he was quiet and seemed like a good father.

Staff members at Olison's Mobile apartment community were surprised by the news, they said he was quiet and seemed like a good father.
Dad, convicted of abusing 3-week-old infant in 2008, gets joint custody of 4-week-old daughter; Dad now charged with inflicting closed head injury, breaking bones of daughter (Zeeland Township, Michigan)
Check this out.
Dad RYAN VICTOR KUPRES was CONVICTED of abusing his 3-week-old infant in 2008.
Daddy then goes on to what is presumably a new relationship.
Even though this relationship apparently doesn't survive the pregnancy, Daddy gets JOINT CUSTODY.
EVEN WITH HIS HISTORY OF CHILD ABUSE.
EVEN WITH HIS LACK OF COMMITMENT TO THE MOTHER OR THEIR NEW FAMILY.
So of course, he "allegedly" bashes the new baby at 4-weeks of age, injuring her head and breaking her bones.
And even though Daddy pulled this crap on his own, apparently during his (court-ordered?) "parenting time," Mom still lost custody of the baby to CPS and foster care.

Father, convicted of child abuse in 2008, arrested again for allegedly injuring 4-month-old

ZEELAND TOWNSHIP, MI -- Police have arrested the father of a Zeeland-area baby who they say was abused - suffering a closed head injury and broken bones - when she was 4-months-old.
Ryan Victor Kupres, 28, of Wyoming, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 21, and charged with first-degree child abuse and for being a habitual offender based on a 2008 conviction for abusing another child in 2008.
The child, Layla Kupres, was taken to Zeeland Community Hospital in late March with serious injuries. Police said she was vomiting and suffering from flu-like symptoms when her parents, Kupres and Jessica Jones, brought her in.
She was later transferred to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, where doctors discovered the closed head injury and multiple fractures on her extremities, police said.
Layla remained in treatment for an extended period of time and has since been placed in foster care, police said.
The child was staying at her mother’s Zeeland residence on Stephanie Jo Lane when the incident occurred. The parents are divorced, but had joint custody at the time, Lt. Mark Bennett said in April.
Kupres earlier was convicted of first-degree child abuse for injuries in 2008 to a 3-week-old infant. That baby, which also is his child, has recovered.
Kupres is held on $15,000 cash bond. The scheduling of future court dates is pending, and the case remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.

Dad faces indecency charge over child
21st Nov 2012 6:00 AM
AN IPSWICH father is on trial for indecently dealing with his daughter in a caravan.
The 44-year-old man, who cannot be named, was living in a caravan park at Aratula when in May 2009 he allegedly touched his biological daughter inappropriately during a visit. Ipswich District Court heard the man and the girl's mother had separated and his daughter would visit on weekends.
Between May 29 and September 30, and in November 2010 the girl claimed her father groped her in the caravan at Aratula and Blacksoil.
The man has pleaded not guilty to three counts of indecent treatment to a child in his care. On each occasion the father would send the girl's siblings to the toilet block for showers so he could be alone with his daughter, the court heard.
While together, the father touched the girl on her breasts and genitals, the jury was told. The Crown will allege the indecent treatment was not isolated and occurred regularly.
The trial, before Judge Greg Koppenol, continues today.

Custodial dad arrested for beating 11-year-old son with a stick (Narok North, Kenya)
Notice that UNNAMED DAD is identified as a "single father" who had custody. Daddy says Mom "ran away." Whenever violent men claim these things, caution is advised. Did Mom "run away" or was she driven away by the father's violence? Did Daddy take her child away from her to "punish" her? All these are behaviors are commonly seen with child abusing fathers.

Father arrested for 'disciplining' son
WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2012 - 00:00 -- BY KIPLANG&;#039...
A middle-aged man was yesterday arrested at Enaibelbel in Narok North after he allegedly beat and injured his 11-year-old son. The suspect is accused of hurting the boy on his face, arms and the back. He is alleged to have beaten his son using a stick.
Narok district children officer Julius Ngoko said the single father of three claimed he was disciplining the boy following a neighbour's complaints that the boy had stolen his money.
Ngoko said that the man pleaded with him to pardon him saying his wife had run away leaving him to take care of the children. He said that child abuse was rampant in the area and added that ignorance of the law is no longer a defense mechanism.
The children officer cautioned parents to be careful when punishing their children because the law is not lenient anyone. The boy was taken to Narok District hospital before being taken to PCEA boys children’s home for temporary stay.

Dad gets one year in jail for raping 8-year-old daughter (New Delhi, India)
Notice that rapist dad--who is identified only as JAIPAL--also beat the mother and daughter and threatened to kill them if they told about the rape.
And for all that we get a stern lecture from the judge on the importance of fathers under patriarchy, with the stern (wink, wink) sentence of one year--as if this were not, in fact, a "lenient" sentence. Wonder what "lenient" sentence Daddy was expecting instead? A warm hug and a plea to be nice in the future? What a joke.

Man given a year's jail term for molesting minor daughter
New Delhi , Wed Nov 21 2012, 21:14 hrs
A man has been sentenced to a year in jail by a Delhi court for sexually molesting his minor daughter.
Metropolitan Magistrate Kiran Gupta sentenced Central Delhi resident Jaipal on the basis of deposition by his wife and eight-year-old daughter.
"The convict is the father of the victim who is aged around eight years. The custodian of the child is the father on whom not only rests the responsibility of building character / career and upbringing of the child but he is also a vital part of her life.
"If the father himself is found guilty of such a heinous offence, no mitigating circumstances can be found to reduce the sentence," the court said, dismissing convict's plea for leniency.
The prosecution case dated back to May 18, 2011 night when the child's mother had gone to the bathroom, Jaipal had attempted to sexually molest his sleeping daughter, the prosecution had told the court.
The mother had rushed back to the room on hearing her daughter's scream and saw her husband attempting to sexually molest the minor, it had added.
When the woman asked her husband what he was doing, he had beaten her and the victim mercilessly and threatened to kill them if they disclosed the incident to anyone.
Jaipal, however, claimed in the court that his wife had implicated him in case as she wanted some property in her name, but the court dismissed his contentions

Dad tries to give away 3-year-old son at bus station; mom's whereabouts "unknown" (Chicago, Illinois)
It seems to me that this article asks the wrong questions. We shouldn't be focusing so much on WHETHER this boy should go back to his father. (The answer is an easy "no" so far as I'm concerned.) We should be asking HOW and WHY this boy ended up with this drugged out sorry @$$ of a father to begin with. And why are the boy's mother's whereabouts "unknown"? What happened to her? Is she dead? Alive? What?
It's no secret that abusive/neglectful dads like JOSEPH CORTER are often very talented at taking children away from their mothers in order to "punish" them for whatever. These fathers typically have no real interest in raising the children themselves, they just don't want Mom to have that right. Tactics can involve the state (family courts, CPS) or just direct threats/violence against the mother that no authorities will respond to. Did something like that happen here? Unfortunately, nobody here seems all that interested to find out.

Dad Tries To Give 3-Year-Old Son Away At Bus Station, Charged With Misdemeanor
Posted: November 21, 2012
Chicago, IL — An intoxicated father tried to give his preschool son away to strangers at a bus station, police say. Joseph Corter was believed to be under the influence when he asked several patrons if they would be willing to take his son. After several people declined to take the boy, Corter tried to leave the 3 year old at the station and flee the scene. Security officers stopped him.
He was arrested and charged with misdemeanor child endangerment.
The 31-year-old father was arrested at the Chicago Greyhound station on Saturday. The boy was handed over to DCFS custody, and he was reported to be physically unharmed. Corter has been charged with misdemeanor child endangerment, a fairly low-level charge. DCFS says it will launch an investigation into possible child neglect.
The whereabouts of the child’s mother are unknown.
Some feel as though the punishment, in this case, does not fit the crime. The Stir writer Julie Ryan Evans admits that there is no report as to what will happen to the child after the incident, if it is a first offense, the boy will likely be returned to his father. “I imagine,” she writes, “if it’s a first offense there may be some classes or counseling required, but the boy will likely be back with his father before we can blink. Back with a man who tried to give him away. And I can’t help but thinking how wrong that might be.”
Do you think that this little boy should be returned to his father? Do you think the father’s misdemeanor sentencing was too lenient?

Dad charged with murdering 3 daughters during visitation hopes to profit from sale of family home (River Falls, Wisconsin)
We've posted on this case before.
Once again, we have a father who murdered three young girls to punish their mother. The fathers rights goons will tell you that Daddy was grieving and sad and all the bullsh**. Because the poor baby was "deprived" of his children or some lies like that.
Check this out. Despite the fact that Daddy had threatened to kill the mother before (HUGE RED FLAG IN LETHALITY ASSESSMENTS), Mom bent over backwards to allow this piece of crap to visit her daughters. No "gatekeeping" whatsoever. She did everything the FRs insist that mothers do, which is ignore or minimize their own instincts, experiences, and judgments, and cater to Daddy first.
And this is how he repaid her. Slaughtered his own daughters in cold blood, and he was just psycho enough to taunt the mother over the phone about it.
Once again, we see that the problem is not that abuser daddies are being denied access. The problem is that they are being GRANTED ACCESS which they use to further torment, abuse, rape, or even murder their victims.
Now this creep wants to profit from his crimes by selling the house WHERE HE SLAUGHTERED HIS OWN KIDS so he can use the profits to finance his court costs.
UTTERLY REVOLTING.
Thank goodness there are still some ethical companies in this world as once the realty company knew what was going on, the voluntarily withdrew the listing.

A grieving mother is fighting to stop her ex from profiting from the sale of their house as he will put any cash he earns towards his defense funds after allegedly killing their three daughters.
Jessica Schaffhausen allowed her ex-husband Aaron to meet with their three daughters when he surprised them with a visit to their Wisconsin home in July.
She did not return to the home until after he had gone, only to find out that he had stabbed all three of the young girls before tucking their blood-stained bodies into their beds.
Now Aaron, who had legal rights to the Wisconsin home even though he lived in North Dakota, stands to profit from the sale of the house.
Jessica has been successful in stopping Aaron’s ploy, as the realtor has officially taken the house off the market.
The grieving mother publicly reached out to the realtor in an effort to thwart those plans because if the four-bedroom house sells for anywhere near the asking price of $229,900, Aaron will receive some of that cash which could have legal repercussions in the triple-murder case against him.
‘What you may not have thought through in accepting this job is that if you do succeed in selling it that you will allow their murderer to not only benefit financially but will also disqualify him for the public defender he is using which would mean that the entire criminal trial process would be set back drastically,’ Jessica wrote in an email to an Edina real estate agent.
‘I understand that a sale is a sale for you but I needed to let you know exactly what you are contributing to and if you can still sleep at night with that knowledge then by all means move forward as your conscience dictates,’ she wrote, and then posted on a Facebook page dedicated to her fight for justice for her three young girls.
The Star Tribune quotes a spokeswoman for Edina Realty said that after hearing from Jessica Schaffhausen, the company cancelled the listing on Friday and will no longer be handling any transactions to do with the River Falls property.
Aaron Schaffhausen, 35, will appear in court on Wednesday for the latest hearing in his case dealing with pre-trial motions.
He faces three counts of first-degree intentional homicide after allegedly killing his daughters Amara, 11, Sophie, 8, and Cecilia, 5, in July.
He also faces one count of attempted arson as police found a container of spilled gasoline in the basement of the house when they arrived on the scene moments after he fled.
Court records show the mother, Jessica Schaffhausen and Aaron divorced this January.
He lived in Minot, North Dakota while the girls lived with their mother in River Falls, in a house rented from Aaron Schaffhausen, according to a criminal complaint.
Investigators wrote in the complaint that Jessica Schaffhausen thought her ex-husband was working a construction job in Minot when he texted her just before noon Tuesday and asked for an unplanned visit with the girls. He had recently been fired.
The mother agreed, despite him previously making threats on her life, but told him to be gone by mid-afternoon because she didn't want to see him.
The girls' baby sitter told detectives the girls were so excited to see him when he arrived they rushed to him and took him upstairs to show him their things. The baby sitter hugged the girls goodbye and left, the complaint said.
About two hours later, Aaron Schaffhausen called his ex-wife saying: 'You can [come] home now because I killed the kids.'
All three of her young daughters were found tucked in her own bed, dried blood on their faces.
Autopsy results showed that the girls died from 'sharp force injury' to the neck. The youngest child, Cecilia, had also been strangled, according to a criminal complaint.
Mrs Schaffhausen immediately called police, who discovered the grisly scene. The girls' faces were caked in blood, which also covered the carpet in their bedroom.
Officers detected an odor they thought at first was natural gas. They discovered a gasoline container had been tipped over in the basement, spilling its contents.
An hour after he contacted his ex-wife, Aaron Schaffhausen drove into the River Falls Police Station parking lot and surrendered. Officers noted his shorts were stained with what appeared to be blood. Detectives tried to interview him but he said nothing, according to the complaint.
Officials within the community were shocked by the news of the girls deaths.
The father's bail was set at $2 million and ordered him to have no contact with the girls' mother or her immediate family. Each count Schaffhausen is charged with carries a mandatory life sentence.

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A judge has sentenced a father in northwestern Ohio to 2 ½ years in prison for picking up his 4-month-old son by the leg, causing a fracture.
The Blade (http://bit.ly/QUTzgl ) reports that 18-year-old Jesus Rivera was sentenced Monday in Toledo. He had previously entered a plea to attempted child endangering.
Prosecutors said the child suffered a spiral fracture to his right leg when his father picked him up by the limb on June 10. Judge Ruth Ann Franks told Rivera he "ignored all responsibilities that he had" when he committed the abuse.
Rivera said in court that he was sorry for the pain he caused his son. He said he wanted to attend counseling and parental classes so that he could get custody of the child again.

Charges held for Oxford father accused of burning infant

OXFORD — A 20-year-old father accused of severely burning his infant daughter in October will face felony assault charges in county court, a magisterial district judge ruled Monday.
Jorge Louis Colon, of Oxford, is charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and related offenses for allegedly scalding his infant daughter, Kiara, while bathing her on Oct. 13 at the family’s home.
Magisterial District Judge Scott A.

Two dads, girlfriend, arrested for child abuse, neglect (Yavapai, County)
Got two stellar daddies here: SETH OVERSON and ROBERT STAFFORD.
Notice that the "caretaker" in the Stafford situation is identified as Daddy's girlfriend, but NOT as the mother of the child. Why do these filthy people have custody of a special-needs infant? No explanation given, of course. Nor are we told what judge or person(s) in authority gave Daddy custody.

DEWEY - Two recent cases of child abuse and neglect have led to arrests in Yavapai County.
On Monday, Nov. 19th, Yavapai County Sheriff's deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call for help in the 1600 block of Wait a Minute Way in Dewey. 34-year-old Seth Overson told deputies he had been arguing with his wife but couldn't understand why deputies were called.
When deputies went inside the home, they found Overson's five-year-old son in a bedroom bleeding from his nose and mouth.
Deputies also found bruising on his face and upper body. The boy told deputies at first the injuries were from a recent fall, but later admitted his dad was the cause. Deputies discovered Overson had choked the child and struck him with a plastic curtain rod.
Overson eventually admitted to deputies he had assaulted his son. Overson's wife and 11-month-old child were not injured. The injured boy was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Overson was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including Child Abuse, Assault on a Child and Assault Resulting in Serious Injury. He remains in custody on a $120,000 bond.
BAGDAD - Recently, in Bagdad, YCSO deputies have also been called several times to a home in the 300 block of Fletcher Drive over domestic violence and child/animal neglect issues. Children's Protective Services were also conducting an investigation into the welfare of two children in the home, ages nine months and two years.
The suspects are identified as the father, 26-year-old Robert Stafford, and his girlfriend, 21-year-old Zylvoria Walton. The 9-month-old baby requires nourishment via a feeding tube placed in its abdomen. Walton was an admitted caretaker for both children when Stafford was away. On prior contacts, deputies warned Stafford and Walton that conditions inside their home were becoming unfit for the children. Garbage, dirty laundry and dog feces were found throughout the home, including the children's rooms. A bag of food in a feeding bag, meant for the infant's special needs, was found spoiled in the kitchen. The infant was eventually seen by a doctor who found a serious infection, conceivably life-threatening, at the feeding tube site in the infant's abdomen.
Deputies noted that on several prior occasions, both Stafford and Walton were given ample opportunity to rectify living conditions in the home and had made no effort to do so. As the environment for the children continued to deteriorate, and in light of the infant's recent medical findings, deputies developed probable cause to arrest Stafford and Walton.
On November 12th, both were booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including two counts of felony Child Abuse. Each remains in-custody on a $150,000 bond. CPS has taken custody of both children. The dogs have been removed from the home and placed with a Prescott-area animal shelter.

A 2-month-old girl has died from injuries she suffered when police say a Vandergrift man shook her to get her to stop crying.
Sophia Ludwiczak died of lack of oxygen to the brain due to cranial injury, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office.
State police Trooper Joe Zandarski said the family took the baby off of life support at Children’s Hospital Monday evening.
State police say Matthew Milisits, 30, of Sherman Avenue, Vandergrift, admitted to shaking the baby Thursday morning because she wouldn’t stop crying, according to a criminal complaint filed to support charges.
Zandarski said he anticipates homicide charges to be filed against Milisits, who is jailed on charges of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of children.
Police identified Milisits as Sophia’s father, but Milisits later said he isn’t sure if he is the biological father.
Police say that on Thursday morning when Milisits returned the infant back to her mother, Samantha Ludwiczak, of Wysocki Avenue, North Apollo, the infant was unresponsive.
Milisits initially denied knowing how the baby girl was injured. But eventually admitted that after the child started crying, he shook her “violently” to get her to stop.

Father in custody after tot slapped

A Whangarei father has been arrested after police say he slapped his 2-year-old daughter several times because she wouldn't shut up and kept demanding her bottle.
Sergeant John Fagin, of Whangarei police, said the man was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts of assaulting the child on Sunday.
Mr Fagin said the 37-year-old man and his partner were at a Kamo address about 1pm on Sunday when they got into a dispute.
He said the incident stopped when the woman said she would call police, but the couple's 2-year-old daughter then asked for her bottle.
Mr Fagin said the man then turned his anger on the girl and started swearing at her and telling her to stop the demands.
"The girl said no and he slapped her across the face with an open hand. The child fell to the floor and when she got up she again asked for her bottle," Mr Fagin said.
He said the man then slapped the girl at least twice more while telling her in no uncertain terms to shut up.
The man left the room and the woman took her daughter to stay at another place on Sunday night before police were called on Monday.
The man was arrested and Child Youth and Family have been informed of the incident.
A Whangarei man was remanded in custody when he appeared in Whangarei District Court on the charges yesterday and will reappear today.

Baby killed by father high on drugs
Posted on November 18, 2012, Sunday
KUANTAN: As a result of being ‘high’ on drugs, a man killed his own daughter here on Friday.
In the 9.30pm incident, the 11 months old child died after her throat was sliced with a six-inch knife by the father, aged 29.
Kuantan police chief ACP Mohd Jasmani Yusoff said the father went into to bedroom of their house in Felda Panching Selatan near here where the girl and her two-year-old brother were resting after his wife, aged 26, had left the room, before resorting to the cruel action.
“The man then told his wife and his mother, aged 48, that he took the action because “someone wanted to take him away”,” he told Bernama here on Friday.
The man’s mother, finding the girl bleeding profusely, rushed here to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here but she was confirmed dead on arrival, he said.
“The suspect was later detained in a car at a traffic light junction near the Batu 10 military camp here. He was with his father and younger brother who were on their way to the police station to get him to surrender,” he said, adding that the suspect tested positive for metamphetamine and amphetamine.
Police recovered a six-inch bloodied knife at the house.
The case has been classified as murder. — Bernama

— Bernama

Note that this guy just didn't do a little "spanking." He BATTERED this boy WEEKLY with 1" X 2" pieces of lumber.

Schwab puts sentencing on hold, will wait 1 year to sentence in case
A Freeborn County District Court judge has put the sentencing on hold for an Albert Lea man charged with beating his son with boards.
Monte Joe Santee, 47, on Friday pleaded guilty to one count of malicious punishment of a child as part of a plea agreement between his lawyer and the Freeborn County Attorney’s Office. However, instead of issuing a sentence, Freeborn County Judge Steve Schwab ordered the case be held for a year with the notion that Santee’s charge can be dismissed at that time if he does not have any further violations.
The charge was a gross misdemeanor.
Freeborn County Attorney Craig Nelson said Santee went through a domestic violence intervention-type program on his own, and the relationship between the father and son has improved.
According to court files, Santee admitted to a Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office investigator that he hit the child on the buttocks on an almost weekly basis. Court files referred to 1-by-2-inch pieces of wood anywhere from 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 feet long.
The case started when the man’s son approached local law enforcement about his father’s discipline in January. A Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office investigator states in court files he saw bruising on the boy’s buttocks and legs, which the child attributed to his dad.
Court files say the son told the investigator that, in the most recent punishment, the father ordered the son to the basement for neglecting to fold a pair of his mother’s pants while folding a basket of clothes. The basement is where the punishments were administered, against the wishes of the mother, the court files stated.

Custodial dad, step convicted in abuse of 12-year-old girl (Butler County, Ohio)
You couldn't treat a prisoner of war this way under the Geneva Convention, but if a custodial dad and his step lackey do it, well, hey! Guess it's okay! Just a misdemeanor!
STILL, not ONE WORD on how this piece-of-sh** of a deadbeat father got custody of this child or what happened to her mother. It certainly appears that the mother had no contact whatsoever. Why the consistent media black out?

Couple convicted in case of Ohio girl in basement
An Ohio judge on Friday convicted a father and stepmother of child endangering involving a gaunt 12-year-old girl who claimed she was kept locked in the basement as discipline.

HAMILTON NOV 18, 2012
Butler County Judge Matthew Crehan said he wasn't convinced she had been confined to the basement for long periods, but pointed to other forms of mistreatment including the parents at least once forcing her to eat peanut butter until she vomited. Ruling after a three-day nonjury trial in juvenile court, he said the girl wasn't fed properly and was treated differently from other children in the home.
"There is no doubt that this was a dysfunctional household," Crehan said in his order.
Forty-year-old Shawn Blackston and Joanna Blackston, 37, of Middletown each face up to six months in jail on the misdemeanor count. Crehan said evidence showed that the girl was pale, thin and had sunken eyes when found in July by investigators acting on an anonymous complaint. She weighed 74 pounds then and has gained 32 pounds since while in foster care.
He said evidence showed that the girl had chosen to have her bedroom in the basement and he ruled that the corporal punishment the couple used wasn't illegally unreasonable. But he noted punishments such as restrictions on showering, amounts of toilet paper and on use of a toothbrush. She was excluded from eating with other family members and from family movie nights. He also said the couple subjected her to "vulgar and demoralizing language."
The couple had contended the girl often misbehaved, threatened the other children, and needed discipline. They said the basement door was locked to keep toddlers in the home from falling down the stairs.
They declined to comment after the ruling.
On Thursday, defense attorney Ched Peck said the state hadn't proved its case, but commented: "There is no doubt counseling was needed in this family. There were probably too many kids in this house."
The couple had a total eight children between them, six from prior marriages, court records show. Separate proceedings will determine what will happen with children who were removed to foster case, including the 12-year-old girl.
The woman is a nurse in a nursing home, while the man is unemployed, according to court records.
Sentencing on the child endangering convictions will be Dec. 18.
