Dad prevents mom from taking kids with her when she leaves him--then he abandoned them, and 8-month-old daughter dead (Lahore, Pakistan)
This is an all too familiar story. Control freak (and abusive) father won't let the mother retain custody after she leaves him. But of course he doesn't really want the kids. He just want to punish her.
So it's not uncommon for these fathers to abandon and/or kill these kids, just as dad EHTISHAM ALI did. Retaining possession or destroying the kids accomplishes the same aim as far as they are concerned.
Fortunately, the older son survived, though he was found unconscious. The 8-month-old daughter was not as lucky.
And of course those in authority did nothing to stop this...

Baby ‘abandoned by father’ dies

LAHORE: An eight-month-old girl child died on Thursday a few hours after she was found lying unconscious in front of the house of her mother’s parents, according to an FIR registered with Mustafabad police on the complaint of Muhammad Awais, an uncle of her mother Rabia Ishaq.
Talking to The Express Tribune, complainant Awais alleged that the father of the child, Ehtisham Ali, must have abandoned her there. He said the suspect had written the name of child and Tariq’s parents’ home address on the child’s shoulder.
He said the child was taken to a private clinic near the house but she couldn’t survive.
Earlier in April, Awais said an elder son of the couple had been found lying unconscious in front of the house. He said the boy had survived. He said the incident had taken place a few days after Ishaq’s decision to leave Ali and move to her parents’ house. He said Ali had not let her take along her two children.
Awais said that after the incident in April the family had communicated their concerns about the other child’s safety to the police. But, he said no action had been taken by the police.
Investigation Officer Amir Ali said the suspect had fled his house when a police team raided the place in April. He said they raided the place later as well but did not find him.
Ali said in order to determine the cause of her death the body of the child had been sent for an autopsy.

UPDATE: July 3, 2015, 10:50 a.m.
Charges have been filed for the father of the baby who was found tangled up in barbed wire and in a ditch near Moody.
Zachary James Phillips of Troy, 25, was charged with endangerment to a child. His bond has been set at $500,000.
BELL COUNTY -- An 11-month-old was found in a ditch tangled up in barbed wire on Thursday near Moody.
Just after 11 a.m., police found the baby boy in a ditch near Franklin Road and State Highway 317.
"The child was located in a ditch, alive," said Lt. T.J. Cruz with the Bell County Sheriff's Office.
According to BCSO officials, Zachary James Phillips of Troy, 25, told detectives he took his son on a ride, left his van on the side of the road, then somehow separated from the child and claimed he got lost. Phillips said he found a man in the woods who helped give him a ride back to his van. A DPS Trooper was investigating the vehicle when the men showed up. Phillips told the Trooper he hadn't seen his son since about 5:00 a.m. and something bad had happened.
"At that point agencies was contacted, the Bell County Sheriff's Department, Department of Public Safety, the Troy Police Department, all came out and started doing a search," said Lt. Cruz.
The baby was found about a quarter mile south of the abandoned vehicle, a tan Hyundai van, and was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.
BCSO officials had an address for Phillips on Ellis Street in Troy. Neighbors said he lived at a home in King Branch Mobile Home Park with the baby's mother Erika Marie Bollier.
"She come over and got me this morning and told me Zach took off with the baby, she was worried and she wanted to go look for 'em," said Susan Burns, neighbor.
Multiple neighbors said the couple got into a fight the night before. Burns said she had just returned home from driving around and searching for the 11-month-old when she learned he was 'ok'.
"I'm so relieved, I was so worried about that baby," said Burns.
Authorities said the baby only suffered scrapes and scratches after being found in barbed wire fence, possibly for hours, alone, and in the heat.
Neighbors were surprised it went this far. One said the couple had a tumultuous relationship. Burns said the couple had their ups and downs, but were overall good parents.
"They seem like they were happy, I know they play outside with the baby over here, the baby is always happy, clean," said Burns. "On the weekends I think they just stay home and take care of the baby, they drink a little bit, but that's about all I know of 'em."
The child was reunited with his mother who was being questioned at McLane Children's Hospital in Temple Thursday afternoon.
While multiple neighbors said the father and mother have a history of substance abuse, violence, and visits from Child Protective Services, representatives from CPS said they weren't allowed to say whether they've investigated this family in the past or not, just that they were now involved due to Thursday's incident. Police were not sure if drugs or alcohol were involved.
Phillips remained in custody at the Bell County Sheriff's Office Thursday night with Child Endangerment charges pending: BCSO officials said the Bell County District Attorney would look at the case Friday morning.
The investigation is ongoing.

Custodial dad abandons 2-month-old baby in alley; what happened to mom? (Cleveland, Ohio)
Whoa. What kind of father fights for custody of a baby who is not much more than a newborn--then abandons him?
A sociopathic control freak, that's who. A sociopathic control freak who obviously had no interest in actually raising a child but no doubt a lot of interest in terrorizing/punishing the mother.
But notice that the mother has been erased from this story totally. No explanation as to what happened to her, how Daddy gained custody, and who allowed this to happen.
And at this point, everybody is eager to push this baby into the foster care/adoption system. Even though we still don't know anything about the mother. Typical.
Dad is identified as DESHAWN HOLIDAY.

Man finds 2-month-old abandoned in alley, arrest warrant issued for father

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Police are searching for the father of a 2-month-old baby who was found abandoned in an alley.
Authorities say the infant was found on the sidewalk by a passerby, who then called police.
John Dorsey was driving by the area with his children when he spotted the car seat.
He says he stopped the car and asked his son to make sure there wasn’t a child in the car seat.
“He walked up to the car seat, and he was like, ‘This is a baby, pops!’ So I just jumped back the car, and grabbed the baby and put him in the backseat,” Dorsey said. “It was like somebody threw the diaper bag out the window because all the stuff was scattered down the street. Yeah, so we had to like, pick everything up and put it in the bag once we put him in the car.”
Dorsey took the child home where he and his family cleaned up the baby and fed him until police arrived.
“Why? That’s all I want to know. Why would somebody do this? And he was a beautiful little baby,” Dorsey said.
The baby was taken to a hospital to be checked out before being placed in protective custody.
WJW obtained surveillance video that captured the baby being left behind by a car.
Officials say the boy’s father, DeShawn Holiday, had custody of the child at the time he was abandoned.
Now, a child endangerment warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Workers say the child won’t be in protective custody for long since there is already another family waiting to gain custody.
“I want him,” Dorsey said. “I do, my whole family wants that baby. We called him little brother.”
Dorsey, a father of four, says he hopes the child is healthy and knows he is lucky to have found the baby when he did.

The man appears to push the pram into the bushes before leaving the area and boarding a tram
A BABY boy was discovered at a tram stop by passers-by last night after his father allegedly left him for dead in the freezing cold
Shocking CCTV footage appears to show the moment a father dumped his nine-month-old baby in bushes by the side of a tram stop.
A video clip of the incident appears to show the man pushing his nine-month-old son in a pram before boarding a train and leaving the child in freezing conditions.
It is thought the incident occurred at a tram stop south east of Melbourne, Australia.
The child reportedly sat alone in the pram for ten minutes until shocked passersby discovered it and called police.
Seven News in Australia claim the 31-year-old was later tracked down at a different tram station. It is claimed that the man refused arrest and became so aggressive that police were forced to use pepper spray.
Reports suggest that the mother's details were found inside a wallet in the pram during a police search but it is unknown whether she was aware of the incident.
The man was charged with reckless conduct and endangering life.
He was taken into custody over night but has since been bailed to appear in court in September.
The child is reported to be in good condition after being taken to Monash Children's Hospital for medical treatment.
The Department of Human Services are now investigating the little boy's case.

Custodial dad who "sent mother away" arrested for torturing, abandoning 4-year-old son (Lagos, Nigeria)
The details may differ from culture to culture and from country to country--just as they do from one individual case to the next. But for the most part, these cases are broadly the same.
Once again, we have a violent, abusive controlling father who somehow eliminates the mother from the picture. In the west, it might be through the family courts, where mothers are (mistakenly) led to believe that they have legal rights over their children. In other cases, especially in more conservative countries that are more openly patriarchal, and where women are divorced and driven out of the home by the husband's say so--women will lose their children in a more "informal" and openly violent manner.
The end result in too many cases is more or less the same. The abusive father now has custody (full possession) of the child. So what does he do? Because the motivation is not love, but control and/or hatred of the mother, he abuses the child without mercy. Even abandons the child as long as HE is the one doing the abandoning.
Naïve people would assume that he could have left the child with the mother then, if he wasn't interested in caring for the child. Wrong. He had no interest in caring for anybody. But that's not the point. It was all about hurting and controlling mom and having a free punching bag.

A middle aged man, Sikiru Mustapha, has been arrested for severely torturing his four-year-old son and abandoning the toddler at a bus stop in the Iwaya area of Yaba, Lagos.
There were tears in the eyes of onlookers who saw the kid, identified as Lekan, with bruises all over his body when he was picked up by a neighbour and handed him over to a non-governmental agency who then took him to the police at the Sabo Police Division.
The police acted fast on this and subsequently arrested the recalcitrant father.
According to another neighbour of the man, Mustapha had sent the boy's mother away and married a new wife who has been maltreating the kid with the ultimate being the recent incident.
“Lekan has a long history of torture from his father. He is poorly taken care of, beaten and left to wander in the area. As young as he is, the father beats him without mercy. On Tuesday, (June 9), he was beaten up as usual. But this time, he was abandoned at a bus station.
One of the residents of this area found him and took him to an NGO. He was then taken to the Sabo Police Division, and the police arrested the father.
"Sikiru has a new wife who is a nursing mother. She should have cautioned her husband against maltreating the boy, but she did not."
The boy has been taken to a children's hospital in Surulere and is said to be recuperating while the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kenneth Nwosu says his father has been charged to court.
"We arrested the suspect for maltreating his son. He has been taken to court in company with some personnel from the Lagos State Ministry of Justice."

Dad abandons 3-year-old daughter in forest preserve trash can (Prospect Heights, Illinois)
Dad is identified as FAIZ IKRAMULLA. Wonder if this was a custody/visitation situation...At any rate, Daddy was intent on punishing the mother by "losing" her child.

DCFS: Father put girl in forest preserve trash can to abandon her
By Duaa Eldeib Chicago Tribune
DCFS officials believe a dad put his 3-year-old girl in a trash can before abandoning her in Prospect Heights.
April 9, 2015, 8:21 PM
Preliminary results of a child welfare investigation have led officials to believe that the father of a 3-year-old girl found wandering the streets alone near a suburban forest preserve earlier this week not only left her there intentionally but left her in a trash can, authorities said Thursday.
“Initially, our investigation has shown that the father left the child in a garbage can and drove away,” said Andrew Flach, spokesman for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
As DCFS officials continue to investigate the father regarding allegations of neglect, Cook County authorities also moved forward on a criminal investigation, issuing an arrest warrant Thursday for the girl’s father, Faiz Ikramulla. Ikramulla, 35, was named in a $300,000 arrest warrant for aggravated kidnapping, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
Passers-by found the little girl, who was crying and waving her hands, wandering near Milwaukee Avenue and Palatine Road in Prospect Heights around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan took Ikramulla into custody Wednesday after officials there learned that he was wanted in Illinois.
“I don’t know whether he was fleeing or not,” said Cook County sheriff’s spokeswoman Cara Smith. “It appears so, from where he ended up.”
Authorities said they believe the girl had been alone for a few hours before being found.
The sheriff’s office launched a criminal investigation into the girl’s parents, but authorities said they determined the mother had been in the process of filing missing person’s reports for both the girl and the father with Round Lake police when the girl was found.
The mother, who is cooperating with authorities, is no longer a suspect in the investigation, Smith said.
When the little girl was found, she was able to tell police her first name, but she did not know her last name or her parents’ names. She also told police that her father left her alone in the forest preserve, Smith said. DCFS has placed the girl in the care of relatives.
The father is being held at Van Buren County Jail in Michigan.

December 29, 2014 5:46 PM
LOS ANGELES (AP) – A father accused of leaving his 6-month-old girl outside in the cold early Christmas morning has pleaded not guilty to child endangerment charges.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office announced the case against 29-year-old Jose Chavarria on Monday.

Dad charged in carbon monoxide death of 6-year-old daughter had court-ordered visitation despite history of child neglect, drug abuse, prison record (Syracuse, New York)
Doing some follow up on recent cases. Remember the case of the Syracuse, New York father charged in the carbon monoxide death of his 6-year-old daughter? The one he left home alone while he was out at the casino? We figured this was a custody/visitation case...and sure enough, subsequent research has shown that it was. COURT-ORDERED visitation no less, in upstate New York, which has been dominated by fathers rights groups for years. We increasingly see the "fruit" of their labors, namely dead kids that were left with unfit fathers.
There was no rational reason for an idiot like GLENN COLLINS to have access. Why don't guys like this get supervised visitation instead of protective mothers? And this sh** has the nerve to intimidate/harass the surviving child into not testifying?

Mother of 6-year-old killed in carbon monoxide poisoning feared for girl's safety
By Julie McMahon on October 09, 2014 at 8:13 PM, updated October 09, 2014 at 9:46 PM
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- In the four years since Glenn Collins was released from prison, his daughter's mother feared hearing that her 6-year-old Gabriella was hurt in his care.
After the girl's stays with her father, she complained of being bored, unwashed and of his long absences, said Julianne Steinbrecher, the mother.
On Aug. 29, she received the dreaded phone call.
During that visit with his daughter, Collins arrived home to 106 Carlton Drive in Salina from a trip with a woman to Turning Stone casino. He found Gabriella and his 14-year-old son Jaidon Collins unresponsive, authorities said. Gabriella was pronounced dead at Upstate University Hospital from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a generator.
Steinbrecher was required by court order to allow her daughter to visit Glenn Collins.
"She would kick and scream and cry, 'Mommy, I don't want to go.' Being a mother it obviously broke my heart but I had to follow what a court order said."
The July court order included specific conditions, many of which were broken the day of Gabriella's death.
The court order requires a parent or adult over the age of 18 to watch the girl at all times. Specifically, the parents agreed that either the father or one of his parents would supervise. But police say Gabriella was left with her half-brother Jaidon, which is explicitly prohibited by the court order.
The court order also requires that Gabriella make regular phone calls to check in with her mother. Steinbrecher expected a call that night, but never received one, typical of visits with Collins, she said.
Under the court order, Collins was required to notify Steinbrecher of any event that would affect the child's health. Power had been cut to the house on Aug. 13. Collins had since placed a generator inside the house, authorities have said. Gabriella had told her mother about a power outage at the house when she returned from her last visit. She told Steinbrecher that she had stayed with Collins' parents. Steinbrecher had no knowledge of a generator being used at the house.
Finally, the court order required each parent to send each other copies of a driving record within a specified time period. When Steinbrecher did not receive Collins', she filed a petition with the court asking to take away Collins' visitation rights until he could prove he had a valid drivers' license. The petition was not processed by the court by the time Gabriella had died.
The court awarded Steinbrecher $8.04 a month, she said. Steinbrecher said she hasn't received a payment since November 2013. Collins has missed several hearings on child support, she said.
The relationship between Steinbrecher and Collins has been difficult since the night of Feb. 10, 2010, when police raided the couple's home for drugs, court papers show. Gabriella was two years old at the time. Police found 800 doses of drugs in a safe, according to the court papers issued by Onondaga County Family Court. Steinbrecher said she did not have access to the safe or know they were there.
A month later, out on bail, Collins was again charged with a drug offense when he was stopped with heroin in New York City, the court papers say. According to the records, Collins pleaded guilty to both charges.
He was admitted to prison in July 2010, and was released in April 2011 on parole.
Surrounded by their parents and other family members, Steinbrecher and her boyfriend Seamus Quinn spoke to Syracuse.com about the loss of the 6-year-old girl. They waited until Thursday, when charges were announced, to avoid interfering with an investigation into the incident.
Steinbrecher said she didn't blame the court, 14-year-old Jaidon or herself. She placed the blame solely on Glenn Collins.
His whereabouts in the hours before the girl's death infuriate her, she said.
"It disgusts me. You have money to go to the casino but you can't pay your NiMo bill, your child support? It doesn't surprise me. Nothing surprises me anymore with his actions."
Days after Gabriella died, the couple published an obituary which left Glenn Collins completely out. The girl's name was listed as Gabriella Antoinette Steinbrecher-Quinn. Collins, they said, didn't have a right to her name or condolences.
"I am her father," Quinn said. "If you asked him what her favorite color was, he wouldn't be able to tell you. If you asked him who her kindergarten teacher was, he wouldn't be able to tell you. I was there on the first day of school. I helped her tie her shoes for the first time. We did so much family stuff together, the three of us."
Quinn, Steinbrecher and the 6-year-old girl lived happily in their Syracuse home for four years, the couple said. They said the girl called Quinn "Dad" and Collins "Glenn."
Before the funeral, Collins texted Steinbrecher, the only communication the two have had since the girl's death. This text message is the only communication Julianne Steinbrecher has received from her 6-year-old daughter's father Glenn Collins since the girl died at his house.
Collins was not invited to the funeral or calling hours.
"I want that memory in his head of what he found that morning - you have to live with that memory," Steinbrecher said. "You're not going to see her at peace in that casket. You live with that memory of you finding her dead. I want that etched in his brain."
Steinbrecher said the charges against Collins (second-degree manslaughter, theft of services and criminal impersonation and harassment) give her some comfort.
"I feel some sort of comfort, I'm angry, and my grieving process starts now after all of this," she said. "This is what I've been waiting for, some kind of justice for her in all this."
Steinbrecher and Quinn said life hasn't been anywhere near the same since their daughter with the great big smile and even bigger personality died.
They described her as loving to sing and dance, as well as spending time outdoors at the family's camp. She learned to love school and had tons of friends who she loved to share her toys with. SpongeBob SquarePants was her favorite cartoon character.
Steinbrecher vowed to be at every one of Collins' court appearances until the day she would be given the opportunity to speak.
"It won't be nice," she said. "He took the best part of me. He took my whole life. It's changed. It's like the day before I was a mother."
There was no rational reason for an idiot like GLENN COLLINS to have access. Why don't guys like this get supervised visitation instead of protective mothers? And this sh** has the nerve to intimidate/harass the surviving child into not testifying?

Five-year-old son testifies against dad in strangulation death of boy's mother; dad convicted of 1st-degree murder and child abandonment (Saginaw County, Michigan)
Scumbag daddy MICHAEL LAWRENCE also killed an unrelated 6-year-old girl in a drive-by shooting before strangling to death the mother of his son. He then abandoned the boy, who was later found wandering the streets. Daddy could have "manned up" and confessed, but no, he forced a 5-year-old boy to testify at trial.

A man accused of killing the mother of his five-year-old son while on the run from the fatal drive-by shooting of a six-year-old girl has been found guilty of first degree murder.
Michael Lawrence, from Michigan, was one of four suspects accused of killing six-year-old Lay'la Jones, in Saginaw, in August 2012.
Lawrence killed ex girlfriend, 23-year-old Angelica Olivarez, while on the run from the earlier offense.
Lawrence's own son, five-year-old son Michael, was a key witness in the trial against his father.
After he was charged for Lay'la Jones' murder, Lawrence went on the run from police.
A multistate manhunt was launched after his ex-girlfriend, and mother of his child, was found dead in the city's west-side in April 2013.
Her body was discovered by officers on April 15 in her home after her son three-year-old Michael Lawrence III was found in the streets outside.
Authorities say the boy said that his father had shot his mother.
After a two-week trial, a jury on Friday convicted Lawrence of first-degree murder for the strangulation of Angelica Olivarez.
The Saginaw County Prosecutor's Office went through with the yearlong process of gaining a second murder conviction against Lawrence for multiple reasons, and chief among those was closure for Olivarez's family, officials said.
'It's very gratifying to get the result that we were looking for,' said county Prosecutor John McColgan Jr. 'Our thoughts and prayers go out to Angelica's loved ones.'
Lawrence was on the run from the Jones case, and then also the Olivarez case, for almost exactly a year before police arrested him in Las Vegas in August 2013.
'We were hoping he would plead to save the family from going through this,' McColgan said. 'But he didn't, so we did what we had to do.'
Olivarez's mother, Theresa Medel, said she was 'glad it's over' and that 'it came out the way I wanted it to come out.'
'I'm glad he's going where he belongs,' she said.
The jurors believed that Michael Olivarez, the now-5-year-old son of Lawrence and Olivarez, heard his parents fighting on the day his mother died.
The little boy has told relatives multiple times each that his father killed his mother.
Lawrence was charged with alternative counts of the felony murder charge and of first-degree premeditated murder; both carry mandatory sentences of life without prison, but the jury had to choose one.
The jury also convicted Lawrence of felony charges of child abandonment and unlawful driving away of an automobile.
His young son's testimony was not the only thing that sealed his father's fate.
Lawrence's DNA matched that of one of the donors of samples taken from underneath Olivarez's fingernails.

Drunk dad wanted for fleeing scene of crash, leaving infant son injured and bleeding in the road (Conroe, Texas)
So you have a drunk father who gets belligerent with the mother and starts a fight, takes off with the baby in his car, doesn't bother to use a car seat, gets into an accident, then flees the scene, leaving the baby bleeding in the road. What a piece of sh**.
But notice that although the mother is also a victim is all this, she has LOST CUSTODY to foster care, though it appears that she has not been charged with anything. Typical double standard. Mothers are supposed to be super heroes who can stop violent criminal men in their tracks--and they are punished when they "fail." Only in our dreams....

DPS searching for father from rollover accident

CONROE, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety is asking for the public's help in locating a 29-year-old man in connection with an incident involving his infant son being abandoned at the site of a rollover accident in July.
James William Hammons Jr. is wanted on arrest warrants for child abandonment, driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age and felony failure to stop and render aid, DPS said.
According to investigators, the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on July 20 on East Williams Road and South Williams Road.
Witnesses rushed to the scene and found a baby lying face down in the road and bleeding.
"They thought it was a doll that came out of the vehicle, they didn't realize it was a child," said Jake Millsap, a neighbor. "It was laying face down, until they flipped him over and was blinking at them."
"They had an argument and he took off with the baby, and the baby wasn't in a safety seat," said another neighbor.
Officials said the child had been ejected from a Ford Fusion, which was upside down about 20 feet away.
PHI Air Medical transported the infant to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
The child has since been released and is in foster care. One store clerk says he saw Hammon 24 hours ago buying a Monster energy drink from the corner store.
Anyone with information regarding Hammons should contact the Conroe East DPS Office, 936-442-2800.
You can also contact the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers office, 1-800-392-7867, or montgomerycountycrimestoppers.org. You may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 if your tip leads to the felony arrest of Hammons.

Monterroso-Navas is the biological father of all three missing children, but the deceased is the biological mother of 2-year-old Jafet and two children that were left at the scene.
Officers came out to the scene of the murder after police say the two children left behind, a 5-year-old and 8-year-old found their 25-year-old mother dead early Sunday morning in the 4000 block of Durand Street.
The two children knocked on their neighbors door around 3:35 a.m. on July 13 to tell them something was wrong with their mother, according to Sheriff Newell Normand with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. The 5-year-old and 8-year-old have no relationship to Monterroso-Navas and are currently with the Department for Child and Family Services.
Police were on the scene shortly after and found the body of the 25-year-old woman unconscious in her bathtub with a blunt force trauma wound to the head according to a release from the JPSO.
The woman was pronounced dead on the scene. Police have not released the woman's identity pending notification of the family.
Pedro Monterroso-Navas is described as a 43-year-old hispanic male with brown hair.He was last seen wearing black pants and a blue shirt and walks with a limp.
Photos of two of the missing children, 12-year-old Jessica Nicolle Monterroso and 2-year-old Jafter Abigaitl Monterroso-Monroy are included with the story. We will add a photo of 4-year-old Yojan Manuel Monterroso-Flores when it becomes available.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Monterroso-Navas or the three missing children are asked to call 911 or CRIMESTOPPERS at 504-822-1111.

Drug-addicted dad arrested after leaving child alone overnight in trash-strewn home; what happened to the mother of this child? (Jonesborough, Tennessee)
Notice that it was an aunt and uncle who rescued this child. Why did a belligerent, apparently drug-addicted dysfunctional father like this one have access to this child? Did he have custody? What happened to the mother of this child?

Father arrested after leaving child alone
July 2nd, 2014 1:08 pm
by Becky Campbell
A Jonesborough man was found intoxicated inside a trash-strewn home hours after he allegedly left his child alone over night and then threatened a relative, according to a court document detailing his arrest.
Jason A. Keys, 43. 607 Conklin Road, was charged with child abuse and neglect and domestic assault by intimidation after a verbally violent encounter with his sister.
Officers first responded to a home on LC McKee Road in Jonesborough shortly before 7p.m. in reference to a domestic intimidation. At that residence, Jill Emmert told officers that one of her brothers — not Keys — had brought Keys’ 8-year-old son to her house after finding the boy alone at his house, located at 607 Conklin Road.
The child told officers he woke up that morning and his father was not home and he had no idea where he had gone. When the boy’s uncle found him, he took the child to the aunt’s home.
That was early in the day on Wednesday, and Emmert kept her nephew all day. She didn’t hear from the boy’s father, Keys, until around 6 p.m..
That’s when Keys showed up at Emmert’s residence, blew the horn, got out and beat on the end of the trailer.
Emmert told officers she went outside and her brother said, “What do you mean?” She said she had no idea what he meant by that, but then he said he “should just pull out a gun and blow her brains out.”
The woman told officers she never saw a gun and that Keys left without asking about his son.
Deputy John Foister went to Keys’ residence and said the man appeared intoxicated.
“He also had sores on the inside of both arms, conducive of needle drug abuse. The residence where the child was living was covered with trash and clutter and appeared to be an unsafe habitat for a small child,” Foister wrote in the arrest warrant.
Keys was held on a $2,000 bond and scheduled for arraignment Wednesday afternoon.

Roger Dale Schultz: Accused of domestic violence, second offense, and child neglect
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —The father of two young children who showed up alone at a neighbor’s house late Friday morning has been arrested and the children have been reunited with their mother, police said.
The two boys, 4 and 5, said their father Roger Dale Schultz III, fought with their mother, and he hit her and pushed her before their mother put them in the car in an attempt to leave.
While the mother was in the house trying to find the car keys, Schultz sped away with the children in the car, the police report said.
The boys’ mother left the home on foot looking for them. While she was looking, the father dropped the boys off back at home, and apologized to them and said they wouldn’t see him anymore because their mother called the police. Schultz then left the house, leaving the children alone.
The boys ended up at a neighbor’s house, and she called the Sheriff’s Office.
For a brief time, deputies were unable to find the mother, but a short time later she was located.
The warrant said that Schultz punched his wife in the face, kicked her and knocked her down Friday afternoon, deputies arrested Schultz on a charge of criminal domestic violence, second offense, and unlawful neglect of a child.

Des Moines police are investigating the suspicious death of a four-month-old on the city's south side, officials said.
The boy's mother found him alone and unresponsive in an apartment in the 6500 block of Chaffee Road around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, said Des Moines Police Sgt. Jason Halifax.
She had left him in her father's care while running errands, authorities said. The child's father was not in the apartment when she returned, Halifax said.
The father, Drew James Weehler-Smith, 17, was charged with the neglect of a dependent person for leaving the child alone, police said. Additional charges are possible, pending autopsy results, police said.
It's the second time in one week Des Moines police have investigated the suspicious death of an infant.
On April 15, officers responded to a home in the 3600 block of Southeast 11th Street, Halifax said. The home's occupant said she woke up and found her five-month-old child on the floor.
The baby was pronounced dead at a local hospital, police said. The case remains under investigation as detectives await complete autopsy results.

Dad abducts 3-year-old daughter, abandons her in burning car (Ellenbrook, Australia)
Terribly confusing article, starting with the headline.
So we have a father who what? Broke into the mother's home and assaulted her? No mention of the mother so we don't know if it was her or somebody else. We know he seriously assaulted someone. Was Dad also living in the home? Or elsewhere? Don't know. But the children scatter, flee the home. Except for the 3-year-old daughter which Dad abducts before abandoning her in a burning car that was stolen (from the mother? Somebody else?).

A three-year-old girl was taken to hospital after her father allegedly abandoned her in a burning car after a domestic incident in Ellenbrook.
Police were called to a domestic disturbance at an Ellenbrook home about 10.10pm.
Officers were told someone had been seriously assaulted and a 25-year-old man had damaged the house.
It is alleged a number of children fled the home before the man left the scene in a stolen car, taking his daughter with him.
A police spokesman said concerns were held for the child’s safety because of the man’s behaviour.
Police spotted the man driving on Lloyd Street in Midland with no headlights on about 11pm.
“Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, however the man failed to stop,” the spokeswoman said.
“Due to the fact there was a child in the vehicle, officers did not engage in a pursuit, but attempted to monitor the movements of the vehicle.”
The car was found crashed into a concrete barrier on Great Eastern Highway, near the Roe Highway on-ramp, a short time later.
It was on fire and the man had fled the scene on foot, leaving the three-year-old in the burning car.
The girl was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital after police rescued her from the car.
She is in a critical but stable condition.
Officers found the man on Beaconsfield Avenue in Midvale a short time later.
He was arrested and taken to Swan District Hospital by St John Ambulance officers.
The man allegedly failed a breath test at the hospital and was taken to Midland police station for questioning.
It is believed he also drove into a Toyota Yaris on Great Eastern Highway earlier in the night.
The East Victoria Park man will face a string of charges today.
He was refused bail and has returned to hospital.

While Mom works, Dad abandons 4-year-old son at home to play video games at friend's house (Rock Hill, New York)

ROCK HILL — A Rock Hill father who went to a friend’s house to play video games while he was supposed to watch his 4-year-old son has been charged with neglect after police say a neighbor found the child wandering at an apartment complex without any clothes or supervision on Monday.
Police were sent to Market Place Apartments off Heckle Boulevard at about 11:35 a.m. after a neighbor reported finding the boy walking around in the area, according to a Rock Hill police report. The neighbor took the child to his apartment and notified apartment management.
The apartment’s manager gave police the boy’s address, where he lives with both his parents and a 2-year-old sister, the report states. The manager had been unable to contact either parent. Police found the apartment’s front door open. Officers reached the mother by phone. She told them she left for work in Charlotte at about 9 a.m., leaving the boy with his father, Antwain Sutton, 24. Typically, the boy goes to daycare but he was not able to attend on Monday.
Police spoke with Sutton, who claimed he was unaware the boy did not attend daycare that morning and left the house at about 10:30 a.m. to play video games in Rock Hill’s Sunset Park neighborhood, the report states. Officers wrote in their report that they believed Sutton was “well aware” that the boy was inside the house and deliberately left him.
Police arrested Sutton, charging him with unlawful neglect of a child, the report states. He is held at the York County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond. The child was given to his grandmother until his mother returned home from work.

Milpitas father arrested for leaving children in car overnight.
Julio Reyes, a 29-year-old San Jose resident, was arrested last night after allegedly leaving his two young children alone in a parked car for about 15 hours, until a resident saw movement in the vehicle and called Milpitas Police Department to investigate.
On Wednesday at 12:42 p.m., Milpitas police received a 911 call from a resident on the 200 block of North Hillview Drive reporting a suspicious vehicle parked across from her house all night, which she first thought was empty, had people in it.
Arriving officers discovered a 10-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, both of San Jose, alone inside of the vehicle, a maroon Ford Explorer.
Police say the children had been left alone in the vehicle since 10 p.m. the previous night by their father, Reyes. Investigating officers conducted surveillance on the vehicle and later had it towed, but were unable to locate the dad.
At 11:22 p.m. last night, about 25 hours after leaving the vehicle, Reyes called Milpitas Police Department to report his vehicle and children were missing.
"He knew that he left them in that location ... he went to visit a friend," Maharaj said.
Reyes was interviewed and subsequently arrested. He was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on felony child endangerment charges.
The children were taken into protective custody and later transferred to the custody of the Department of Family and Children's Services.
Maharaj said the children appeared unkempt.
"They were disheveled; they were hungry and dehydrated. We got them McDonald's food," Maharaj said, adding the children looked like they had not bathed in a few days. "At least that's what it looked like."
Later, their mother, also San Jose resident, appeared at the police station, after being contacted by police.
Maharaj said the case has been filed with the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.

Dad loses appeal of conviction for assaulting 7-month-old daughter during visitation (Monticello, New York)
This is one of the very first cases we covered here at Dastardly Dads. But notice that a very interesting thing has happened here: The reporter has "forgotten" to mention that this crime took place during Daddy's very first visitation with the baby. Proof once again, that unmarried sperm donors who never made a commitment to the mother or to forming a family should not be treated as it they had with all the "rights" thereof. See here for a refresher course.

MONTICELLO — An appeals court has upheld the 2010 conviction of Corey Clarke on charges including attempted second-degree murder and predatory sexual assault against a child.
Clarke was convicted of the crimes after a jury trial in Sullivan County Court and was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison.
On July 4,2009, Clarke reported that his 7-month-old daughter had gone missing from her stroller near Walmart in the Town of Thompson. Security videos from Walmart and elsewhere contradicted his story.
The baby was found that evening in a wooded area behind the store, wearing only a light shirt.
Clarke's appeal lawyer argued that his trial lawyer, Fred Neroni, provided ineffective assistant of counsel by failing to properly waive Clarke's right to be present for trial sidebar conferences or to argue certain other issues; and that Clarke was denied a fair trial by the prosecution's use of photos to document the baby's injuries, by use of "inflammatory" language, and because prosecutors were allowed to use police testimony about his demeanor during the search for the baby.
The Appellate Division, Third Department of State Supreme Court denied all of Clarke's arguments, finding that his lawyer "pursued a consistent, cogent theory of defense, made successful objections, engaged in thorough cross-examination of the People's witnesses and otherwise provided defendant with 'meaningful representation.'"

HUNTSVILLE — A 25-year-old man was arrested Friday for abandoning or endangering a child after his 3-year-old son was found wandering near a construction site at Highway 19 and Bearkat Boulevard.
The child was in custody of the Huntsville Police Department and Child Protective Services for nearly four hours before his father, Sam Houston State University student Jonathan Nelson, arrived at police headquarters.
HPD sent out a press release Friday afternoon indicating a child had been found at 11:30 a.m., and authorities were unable to locate his parents. Police would not release the name of the child, but HPD Lt. Barnes said he did not appear to be injured.
“The kid was just discovered wandering,” Barnes said. “We contacted CPS, had them up here immediately and we put out various media releases trying to find the parents.”
Nelson, according to his statement to police, was sleeping when the toddler walked out of the house located in the 200 block of Bearkat Boulevard.
The child was taken into custody of Child Protective Services and taken to a Houston airport to be with his mother, who has primary custody and lives out of state.
Nelson is being held at the Walker County Jail and bail hearing is scheduled for this morning. An abandoning or endangering a child conviction can range from a state jail felony to a felony in the second degree, with punishments ranging between 180 days to 20 years in prison.
“We conferred with the Walker County District Attorney’s Office on what path to take on this and they basically felt that the time frame was negligent,” Barnes said. “You’re talking almost four hours where the little boy was in our custody and we had no idea where the parents were.”
Dad is identified as JONATHAN NELSON.
