KUANTAN: As a result of being ‘high’ on drugs, a man killed his own daughter here on Friday.
In the 9.30pm incident, the 11 months old child died after her throat was sliced with a six-inch knife by the father, aged 29.
Kuantan police chief ACP Mohd Jasmani Yusoff said the father went into to bedroom of their house in Felda Panching Selatan near here where the girl and her two-year-old brother were resting after his wife, aged 26, had left the room, before resorting to the cruel action.
“The man then told his wife and his mother, aged 48, that he took the action because “someone wanted to take him away”,” he told Bernama here on Friday.
The man’s mother, finding the girl bleeding profusely, rushed here to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here but she was confirmed dead on arrival, he said.
“The suspect was later detained in a car at a traffic light junction near the Batu 10 military camp here. He was with his father and younger brother who were on their way to the police station to get him to surrender,” he said, adding that the suspect tested positive for metamphetamine and amphetamine.
Police recovered a six-inch bloodied knife at the house.
The case has been classified as murder. — Bernama
