Dad murders 7-year-old daughter because she wanted to go back home to mom (Chennai, India)

The dad, only identified as SIVA, had separated from his wife due to his alcoholism. Their only daughter, a 7-year-old, stayed with Mom. Six months later, Dad makes a big show of reconciling with Mom, promising that he'll stop drinking and all that, and that he wanted to spend time with his daughter. Oh, and would Mom please leave the girl with him. Mom agrees. He takes daughter to his new house. But the daughter was apparently anxious about this (for damn good reason as it turns out), and started to cry for her mom. Dad then beats her, hangs her from the ceiling, locks the house, and flees. Dad later gets roaring drunk (so much for that non-drinking pledge), and confesses to her murder.

Would the fathers rights people blame Mom and "parental alienation syndrome" for the murder? Probably.

CHENNAI: The suburban police on Wednesday arrested a man at Madipakkam for murdering his seven-year-old daughter on Sunday.

Siva (37), who runs a cycle rental shop at Keezkatalai, parted with his wife Banu some six months ago mainly due to Siva’s alcohol addiction.

Their only daughter Jayashree had been living with her mother since then.

Last week, Siva approached Banu and expressed his willingness to start a new life with her. He also promised her that he would stop drinking. He also said that he wanted to see Jayashree and asked Banu to leave her with him for some time.

On Sunday, Banu left Jayashree with Siva in his house at Keezkatalai.

But, Jayashree cried and was insisted on getting back to her mother.

Angered by her stubbornness, Siva beat her and hanged her from a ceiling fan. He then locked the house and fled the scene.

On Wednesday afternoon, he got drunk and created a ruckus when Peerkankaranai police came to arrest him. In his inebriated state, he confessed to having murdered his daughter on Sunday.

The Peerkankaranai Police took Siva to Madipakkam police, who in turn took him to his house where they found Jayashree’s body in a decayed state. Investigation is on.
