Dad charged with murder in bathtub death of infant son (Columbus, Ohio)

We posted on this case earlier today when Dad was still unidentified. He is now indentified as HAROLD WARNER, and is being charged with murder. Apparently Dad's story about leaving the baby in the tub just "briefly" isn't standing up to scrutiny.

The father of a baby boy who was found not breathing Tuesday night in a bathtub at a Far East Side apartment has been charged with murder in his son's death.

Harold Warner was charged in the slaying tonight and is being held in the Franklin County jail.

The 9-month-old baby, Sylahs Gather, was found about 8:30 p.m. in a tub with water at their apartment, Apt. 1-K in the Winding Creek Apartments at 4609 Refugee Rd. His father briefly left him in the tub, police said they were told.

The child was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition and died there early this morning, Franklin County Coroner Dr. Jan Gorniak said.

But after an autopsy was performed today, police charged Warner in his son's death. A detective said the child had been assaulted and that Warner's story about what happened Tuesday night didn't match what the autopsy found.
