"Caretaker" dad "allegedly" suffocates 7-month-old daughter while he was asleep (Sunrise, Florida)

So typical. Dad EMANUEL LAWRENCE is an unemployed dopehead who stayed up late to smoke pot and play X-box. Mom woke him up the next morning and told him to feed the kids (I'm assuming that Mom then left, perhaps to go to work?) So Dad dragged his @$$ out of bed, fed the kids, and then took the two kids--a 7-month-old baby and a 3-year-old--back to bed with him. While zonked out, it appears Dad rolled on top of the 7-month-old and suffocated her. He doesn't figure this out till 7 1/2 HOURS LATER. Then he dumps the kid in her crib and goes to a friend's house to call 911. Wha???

Father Allegedly Suffocated Baby While He Slept

SUNRISE (CBS4) ― 30-year-old Sunrise man is accused of rolling over and suffocating his 7-month-old daughter to death while he slept.

Now, Emanuel Lawrence is behind bars at a Broward County Jail and he now faces an aggravated manslaughter charge on a child. His bond has been set at $75,000.

The incident occurred on November 19th at their home on the 10000 block of Winding Lakes Road. Lawrence lived there with his girlfriend, their 7-month-old baby and their other child who is 3.

Police say Lawrence, who is unemployed, had stayed up late the night before smoking marijuana and playing X-Box. The mother woke up Lawrence and told him to feed the children. He fed the children and brought them back into the bed with him, Gerity said.

Seven and a half hours went by before he woke up only to discover he had rolled over on the baby and suffocated her.

Police say that's when he put the baby back in the crib and went to a friend's house to call 911.
