LEXINGTON, Mo., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Magazines describing incest were found in the house of a Missouri grandfather charged with multiple counts of child abuse, police said Wednesday.
Investigators said the magazines were in a locked cabinet in the Independence home of Burrell Mohler Sr., 77, The Kansas City Star reported. The house was searched Nov. 11, shortly before his arrest.
The magazines had titles like "Family Taboo" and "Best of Family Touch." Investigators said they also found recording equipment, sex toys and videotapes.
Mohler and his four sons have been charged with sexually assaulting his granddaughters. His brother, who now lives in Florida, has also been arrested.
The alleged victims, mostly Mohler's granddaughters, came forward with stories of being molested and forced to go through mock weddings with grown men.
New allegations from three women emerged that their father, Burrell Mohler Jr., forced them to help him kill a stranger in 1988, kidnapping him, stabbing him at a family farm near Bates City and burying him there. The Missouri Highway Patrol said there are no open 1988 missing persons cases matching the daughters' story.
Another woman, unrelated to the family, says she was confined in a crawl space long enough to bear two children.
Mohler and his sons appeared in court Tuesday.
