Justin R. Hutchison, 29, of 215 S. Main St., Tuscarawas, has been charged with domestic violence and child endangering stemming from incidents Dec. 27 at a residence on N. Dawson St.
Ptl. Brandon McCray said police responded to Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison on Dec. 27 after a report that a woman brought her 5-week-old baby there. She claimed Hutchison, who is the father, had shaken the baby.
McCray said she told police she was upstairs in her residence with another child while Hutchison was downstairs with the infant. Hearing the baby crying more than usual, she went downstairs and said she saw Hutchison firmly shaking the infant. She then got the baby and brought him to the hospital.
The suspect later told police that he thought he was just rocking the baby.
Following an initial examination, the baby was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
Tuscarawas County Children’s Services personnel were notified of the incident.
Police said that the investigation is complete, and no other charges are expected. Hutchison will appear in Tuscarawas County Court in Uhrichsville on the misdemeanor charges.
