HOUSTON - A man and woman died in a murder-suicide on Tuesday morning, investigators said.

Houston police said a woman arrived at her home at the Tidwell Estates Apartments in the 1200 block of West Tidwell about 11 a.m.

Detectives said that the woman took her 2-year-old daughter out of her car seat and was confronted by the girl's father.

The man told the woman to put the child down before he shot her multiple times and then turned the gun on himself, police said. Both of them died. Their names have not been released.

Witnesses said the 2-year-old ran around screaming for her mother after the shooting. She was not physically injured.

The motive for the shooting has not been released.
