THE father of a four-month-old baby found in a shallow bush grave in WA's South-West has admitted killing his son and dumping his body.
John O'Kane, an unemployed truck driver, admitted murdering his son when he appeared by video link in the Supreme Court today.
He was remanded in custody for a psychiatric, psychological and pre-sentence report and will be sentenced on February 2 next year.
Major Crime detectives made the heartbreaking discovery of little Zach's body in the Wellington National Park after O'Kane led Major Crime investigators to his son's burial site on January 10.
Police said the baby's body was kept in the boot of his father's car for three days while it was parked outside a relative's Langford property.
Five days earlier, Mr O'Kane had allegedly telephoned his de facto partner, Sylvia Schilling, while she was out shopping, telling her he was taking Zach to stay with relatives in Langford for two nights.
Days later when the father and son were reported missing to police, detectives issued a nation-wide alert for Mr O'Kane and Zach.
