Dad arrested for assaulting 9-month-old daughter (Penacock, New Hampshire)

CONCORD – A local man is being held on $125,000 cash bail on charges he assaulted his nine-month-old daughter.

Jason Teixeira, 25, of Penacook was arrested Sunday morning in Portsmouth and charged with two counts of second degree assault and one charge of endangering the welfare of a child, according to Lt. John Zbehlika.

Police began an investigation Saturday night into allegations that Teixeira had abused the baby. They located him and the child in Portsmouth where he was arrested on an unrelated drug offense.

The baby was treated for injuries at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, according to police. The state Division of Children, Youth and Families is involved in the continuing investigation.

Teixeira will be arraigned in Concord District Court this morning at 11 o'clock.
