Two children were taken to Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown on Saturday after their father allegedly beat them, strangling one with a leather belt until she momentarily could not breathe, according to a Shelby County Sheriff's Office affidavit.
Rashun Jenkins, 36, was arrested in Cordova on Saturday afternoon at a home in the 1100 block of Woodland Bluff Lane on domestic assault charges. No bond was set.
The children told deputies that Jenkins had been drinking beer and smoking marijuana before he became upset that his cell phone and car keys were missing. He then punched them repeatedly before striking them with the belt, they said.
Deputies reported one child suffered a large laceration to the back of his head and bruises throughout his torso, while markings from the belt were visible on the other's neck.
Both were in stable condition Saturday night.
