DASTARDLY DADS FROM THE ARCHIVES (Indianapolis, Indiana - 2006)

True to form, the final articles about the conviction of killer daddy DAVID BROWN "forget" to mention that he was in fact custodial, and that a protective mother was trying to regain custody at the time of the son's murder and the daughter's attempted murder. Note the following from the first September 22, 2005 article listed below:

"The children's mother had recently returned to central Indiana and was seeking custody of the children, prosecutors said."

Also notice this statement from a September 19, 2005 article here:

http://www.theindychannel.com/news/4993862/detail.html

"...the children lived with their father in the home and that Brown and his wife were separated and in the midst of a custody battle."

In general, if you search through the articles below, you'll find that this father had custody despite the fact that the sheriff's department had been called "several times in the past" to the father's home, that the son had previously run away because he and the father didn't "get along," that Daddy had gone "missing" before (apparently from mental instability), and that there was additional evidence of mental instability at the time of the son's murder. Notice again in the September 22 article that the prosecutor in the case makes reference to a "bizarre e-mail, talking about talking to people in heaven and some other things that I'd rather not get into."

So can we conclude that even before 2005, there is not much evidence that daddies were discriminated against in child custody cases? That even a demonstrably crazy daddy who stabbed himself after gunning down his children had few problems getting custodial control of his victims?

Man Pleads Guilty To Killing Son, Wounding Daughter
POSTED: 5:18 pm EDT July 7, 2006

INDIANAPOLIS -- An Indianapolis man accused of fatally shooting his 15-year-old son and wounding his 12-year-old daughter pleaded guilty Friday to charges of murder and attempted murder.

David Brown's pleas came three days before he was to stand trial in the September shootings of his son, Harley Brown, and his daughter, Ashley Brown.

Police said David Brown shot the two in their south-side Indianapolis home. Authorities said Harley Brown died after being shot twice and Ashley survived after being shot in the back.
David Brown, then 44, survived self-inflicted stab wounds, police said.

Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 16.
