Dad basically tortures adopted 7-year-old son for "stealing" candy (Wymore, Nebraska)
Read through the assorted "severe punishments" meted out by adoptive daddy JOHN HINTZ. Frankly, this sounds like something out of Abu Ghraib to me. Why is it torture when it's done to soldiers, but "punishment" when it's done to kids? And is this single dad? Sounds like it. No mention of the adoptive mom at least.
INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

Child Steals Candy; Father In Trouble For Severe Punishment
Wymore, NE - (AP) - A 44-year-old Wymore man has been charged with felony child abuse, accused of harshly disciplining his adopted 7-year-old son.
The Beatrice Daily Sun reports that authorities believe John Hintz forced the child to do push-ups with closed fists on rocks while Hintz placed his foot on the child's back. That was after learning the boy had stolen a candy bar.
Authorities say when the child could no longer do push-ups, Hintz forced him to run laps until he had blisters on both feet.
The child told authorities he also was forced to eat all of his Valentine's Day candy and drink five glasses of soda in one sitting, causing him to vomit.
Hintz did not immediately return a message left Tuesday at a home phone listing for him.
