Dad nearly rolls vehicle with kids, barricades himself in house from police--all because of a traffic ticket (Adelanto, California)

Good grief. Couldn't he just grit his teeth and take the speeding ticket from the nice cop, just like 99 percent of us grownups do? Well, daddy ROGER AMICK just couldn't do that. We had to have a major display of Daddy Drama meltdown instead. So with three kids in his car--ranging in age from 11 months to 9 years--he speeds off, nearly hits a pedestrian, nearly rolls the car, and THEN (for his finale) BARRICADES HIMSELF IN THE HOUSE. Oh, police standoff time! Get the popcorn!

And while hot-headed Daddy is shlepping the kids around, where's Mom? Who knows?

INVISIBLE MOM ALERT.

ADELANTO • A father, who was apparently infuriated over a traffic ticket, sped off with his three young children in his vehicle, nearly rolled the car and then barricaded himself in his home for a short time, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Adelanto station officials said.

Roger Amick, 25, of Adelanto was arrested Thursday evening for cruelty to a child after leading deputies on a short pursuit through city streets, according to Staci Johnson, spokeswoman for the Adelanto station.

Deputy Steve Spagon stopped Amick near Bellfower Road and Brockman Avenue at about 5:30 p.m. for speeding, officials said.

After giving Amick his ticket, Johnson said Amick drove off at a high rate of speed and nearly hit a pedestrian. He then jumped a dirt embankment and almost flipped the vehicle over, all with his three children, ages 11 months to 9 years old, inside.

To read about Amick's arrest, see the full story in Saturday's Daily Press.
