BURLINGTON, KY (AP) - A northern Kentucky man convicted of killing his infant daughter has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
Boone Circuit Judge James R. Schrand on Jan. 26 followed a jury's recommendation when he sentenced 32-year-old Benjamin Senseman, The Kentucky Enquirer reported. It was the maximum penalty he could have received after being convicted in December of manslaughter and criminal abuse.
Both he and his wife, Laura Senseman, had been charged with murder in the death of 2-month-old Chloe Senseman on July 12, 2009. Laura Senseman was at work when the baby died, but prosecutors said she should have known the girl was being abused. Laura Senseman was acquitted.
Attorneys for the couple had argued their 2-year-old son injured the baby and that if Benjamin Senseman killed the child, it was accidental.
