A man who fled the Wyandotte County Courthouse with his 20-month-old daughter to avoid jail later returned the child to her mother.
Wyandotte County officers verified the child was safe about 4:15 p.m., said spokesperson Lt. Kelli Bailiff.
The father, 23-year-old Robert E. Ingram, remains at large. He now has a warrant for aggravated escape with a bond of $50,000 added to his existing troubles.
Ingram fled after a 9:30 a.m. court hearing in which a Wyandotte County District Court judge revoked his probation. Accused of selling illegal drugs, Ingram already had served some time in the case and probably would have gotten out this time in May or June, officials said.
Instead, Ingram sprinted from the courtroom carrying the toddler and fled into a waiting car outside, officials said. He had the baby in his arms when he got into a silver Pontiac Grand Am registered to his mother, authorities said. Bailiff said Ingram is no longer in that vehicle.
His booking sheet describes him as six feet tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s department at 913-596-3000 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
