LAKE RIDGE, Va. – A small child is dead and her father faces charges.
Medical staff called police after a three-month-old girl appeared to have been shaken so hard she suffered severe trauma to her head and upper body. The girl later died from her injuries, suffering from “shaken baby syndrome.”
Police said the child was shaken by her father at their home in the 3900 block of Penshurst Lane in Lake Ridge.
Police on March 2 began an investigation in the child’s death and learned the child had been abused two other times, once on Jan. 10 and again Feb. 23, Prince William police documents state.
On March 7, police arrested 30-year-old Shahid Nazar, of Lake Ridge. He’s charged with two counts of malicious wounding and two counts of felony child abuse and was held without bond, documents state.
On Thursday, Prince William police were called to a report of another infant death. A child was found dead inside a daycare in Bristow.
