St. Charles County, MO (KSDK) - A 24-year-old father is in police custody Friday on a $30,000 cash-only bond after being accused of beating his five-year-old son.

According to police, the arrest of Michael Stanger stems from an incident at the family's home near Wolfram and Independence roads.

An anonymous tipster called social services and told them Stanger allegedly beat his son after the boy refused to listen to him and go upstairs.

Detectives said the father told them he pushed his son up the stairs, causing him to hit his head on the walls and steps. He also allegedly told police he spanked and kicked his son in an upstairs bedroom.

Police said the little boy was left with bruises all over his body.

According to detectives, MichaelSstanger admitted he hit his son "too many times and too hard" off and on for two hours.

Despite how badly the child appeared injured, police said the father never tried to get the boy a doctor.
