Dad FINALLY arrested on child molestation charges--after Mom in "custody dispute" had contacted authorities for YEARS (Anderson, Indiana)
This story is no surprise to protective mothers. Child protection routinely ignores allegations of child abuse, particularly child sexual abuse. Especially if the allegations are raised by the mother. And even in the cases where they take the evidence seriously, local law enforcement often drops the ball. Now dad GARRETT CORNELL has finally been arrested for sexually abusing a child--but ONLY because the idiot videotaped himself abusing her, and the authorities are now getting pressured to do something.
Notice that daddy was also in a "custody dispute" with the mother for years. No surprise there. Perverts like things to be easy for them. Having total control of the victim is one way to make things easy.
Also notice that this is Indiana, where the (violent) fathers rights movement is very powerful....

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) - A Noblesville man was arrested last weekend on child molestation charges – accusations substantiated by a video , police said. But now, the mother of his son says her cries for help and warnings of abuse went unheeded for years.
Garrett Cornell was charged in connection with the molestation of a 9-year-old girl. His son, who 24-Hour News 8 is not identifying, turned his father in after finding a video tape of his dad having sex with the girl he knew well.
“What he did isn’t right,” the seventh-grader said. “I might be able to forgive him, but there is a slim chance.”
His mom, June Schanttner, echoes those sentiments. She said she called Child Protective Services back in the late 1990s about Cornell and another child. A document she provided to 24-Hour News 8 shows investigators determined police should look into the accusations. But that never happened.
“I was screaming and crying for help, but I wasn’t getting it,” June Schattner said.
The document Schanttner provided alleges Garrett sexually abused her daughter. According to the report, CPS substantiated the child molestation claims and turned its case over to Anderson Police Department for further investigation.
But Anderson police told 24-Hour News 8 there is no record of that report on file, so there was no investigation. And no criminal charges were filed in that case against Cornell.
Anderson Police did have record of many reports made by Shanttner, though, from May 2000 to October 2011. She filed incident reports of child abuse against Cornell both with the Anderson Police Department and to the state. In those reports, Schanttner alleged Cornell physically abused their 2-year-old son while he was in his care. She told police and CPS that after she would pick her son up on visitation, she would often find bruises on his body.
Consequently, both agencies conducted their own investigations, coming to the same conclusion. The alleged injuries were photographed and documented in reports by the Anderson Police Department. The investigative analysis revealed that the bruises could have been caused by other activities and not necessarily from abuse.
No allegations of sexual abuse were reported by Schanttner. During this period, she was in a custody dispute with Cornell. The matter was eventually closed by both agencies.
Now that Cornell has been charged, Schanttner has custody of their son.
