COLUMBUS, Ohio — Bond was set Monday at $200,000 for a man accused of beating his 18-day-old son when the boy would not take his bottle

According to court records, Jeffrey M. Kennedy's son, Riley, was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital on Sunday after suffering a fractured skull and bleeding in his brain, 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported.

The boy remained in critical condition on Monday.

It is alleged that Kennedy, 21, injured his son at a home on Townhouse Drive in Grove City, 10TV's Andy Hirsch reported.

Kennedy called 911 and told dispatchers that his son was acting "really weird." Kennedy later told police that he was at the apartment he shares with the boy's mother when the newborn became unresponsive.

While a family member denied allegations that Kennedy would intentionally harm his son, investigators said the child's injuries could not have been the result of an accident, Hirsch reported.

Franklin County Children Services removed another child from the same home last week because of allegations of abuse, Hirsch reported.

Kennedy was scheduled to appear in court again on July 20.
