Dad arrested after standoff with police (Scottsburg, Indiana)

It seems very likely that this police standoff involving dad DONALD GROSE had something to do with child visitation. As my Indiana mom friends know all too well, any father with a pulse can get custody/visitation in Indiana. Doesn't matter how crazy or criminal he is. Don't believe me? Then how did a torture killer like Indiana dad RILEY CHOATE get custody?

SCOTTSBURG, Ind. -- A welfare check of a child led to a standoff with police in southern Indiana.

The standoff ended peacefully, with the child safe and his father in custody.

The man at the center of it, Donald Grose, is now in the Scott County Jail.

The situation began Tuesday just before 5:30 p.m.

Scottsburg police responded to the 800 block of Allen Street for a welfare check of a young boy.

When officers arrived, they said Grose, 30, refused to open the door or let police check on the child.

Law enforcement attempted to negotiate with Grose for more than two hours before he cut off all communication.

Scottsburg police called for backup from Indiana State Police and after several more attempts to contact Grose, the ISP Emergency Response Team forced its way into the home.

They found the child, safely removed him from the home and took Grose into custody.

“The only thing we're releasing now is the minor did receive some minor injuries. The child is OK. The child has already been checked out so everything's going to be OK for this child,” said ISP Sgt. Jerry Goodin.

Grose is in jail on charges of criminal confinement and battery to a minor.
