Tea Party, "pro-family" daddy refuses to pay child support (Chicago, Illinois)

Daddy JOE WALSH is your typical right-winger/fathers rights type. It's all "rights" for daddy--with no responsibility for the children. "Rights" means not paying for your kids. And threatening to strip the mother of custody if she persists in asking.

I have zero sympathy for these deadbeat dads. I paid child support for 11 years--though unemployment, a maternity leave, part-time jobs--to a chronically unemployed father who didn't want to work and neglected my daughter horribly. So badly the CPS finally had to get involved, though they desparately wanted to sweep the whole thing under the rug--given that our family court judge in Chautauqua County, New York (Judith Claire) is very pro-fathers rights. Ain't no abusive daddy our Judge Judy won't coddle!

And when I finally got custody back, the powers-that-be in Chautauqua County MADE SURE I would never received a cent of child support--and I never have. No attorney will even touch my case.

Tea Party 'pro-family' leader refuses to pay child support
Jul 28, 2011

U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh, a Tea Party Republican from Illinois, is being charged with hypocrisy over revelations he has neglected to pay court-ordered child support to his ex-wife and three children.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that the tax-bashing freshman who sharply lectures President Barack Obama and other Democrats on fiscal responsibility owes $117,437, according to documents his ex-wife filed in their divorce case in December.

Walsh’s behavior is strongly at odds with his “pro-family,” anti-gay rhetoric. “The core unit which determines the strength of any society is the family; therefore the government should foster and protect its integrity,” Walsh stated on his campaign website prior to his unexpected 2010 victory in Chicago’s north and northwest suburbs.

“A free people cannot survive under a republican constitution unless they remain virtuous and morally strong,” Walsh wrote.

His behavior is also at odds with his personal fiscal irresponsibility.

“I won’t place one more dollar of debt upon the backs of my kids and grandkids unless we structurally reform the way this town spends money!” Walsh says directly into the camera in a viral video lecturing Obama on the need to get the nation’s finances in order.

Walsh starts the video by saying, “President Obama, quit lying. Have you no shame, sir? In three short years, you’ve bankrupted this country.”

In court documents, after ex-wife Laura Walsh asked a judge to suspend his driver’s license until he paid his child support, Joe Walsh asks his ex-wife’s lawyer, “Have you no decency?”

But Laura Walsh says her husband has taken his girlfriend on lavish vacations to Mexico and Italy during her futile nine-year battle to make him pay half of the cost of supporting the kids he fathered with her.

Before his election, Walsh told Laura Walsh that because he was out of work or between jobs, he could not make child support payments, she said. When he filed congressional campaign disclosures, however, she learned that he was earning enough money to loan his campaign $35,000.

In a 2005 court order, Cook County Judge Grace Dickler wrote, “If Joe Walsh fails to tender (his 50 percent share of children’s expenses) to Laura within 7 days … the court shall enter an automatic withdrawal . . . from Joe Walsh’s employer.”
