Yup, real loving dad here. HENRY WALKER, JR. guns down his girlfriend--while she's holding their 7-month-old baby. And because the coward then offed himself, the baby was left crying in a pool of her mother's own blood.

Donaldsonville, La. —

Wednesday morning around 7:40 a.m., the Assumption Parish 911 Center received a call from a female advising that her step-daughter was just shot by her boyfriend and that he had shot himself. She also indicated that a 7 month old baby that the mother was holding at the time she was shot was crying and lying in a pool of blood. Deputies and first responders arrived on scene and found the deceased mother, Heather Granier, age 26 of 119 Tut Street, Pierre Part was lying in the hall of a mobile home in a pool of blood with her baby near her. It was apparent that she died from a gunshot wound to the head. The baby was checked out by first responders and found to be unharmed from the gunshot and was later released to the custody of a family of friends. The suspect, Henry Walker, Jr., age 29 of 297 Leland Loop, Sicily Island, Louisiana, was found near the mother suffering from what appeared to be 2 self inflicted gunshot wounds. He had one wound to the left side of his chest and one wound to his face. Found in his possession was a 20 gauge shotgun. He was flown by Acadian Ambulance to a Baton Rouge Hospital where he later died in the emergency room. He was pronounced dead at approximately 10 a.m. this morning. The bodies of both will be sent to the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and recover evidence.

The couple and their 7 month old child had been residing at this residence with the victim’s Father and Step-Mother in Pierre Part for about a month and a half. No incidents of violence involving this couple had been reported prior to today. However, Henry Walker, Jr. does have several arrests and a probation revocation where he was serving a sentence for Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property for an arrest that occurred in Concordia Parish.
The Louisiana Department of Community Services will be contacted so that they can determine and monitor the placement of the child with surviving family members.
