Why do abuser dads get off with this "boys will be boys" stuff? Why does a child's serious head injury get dismissed as "rough play" or "fooling around" ? Moms do not get this kid glove treatment.

A hospital official called at 11:10 p.m. to report a child was brought into Sutter Tracy Community Hospital, 1420 N. Tracy Blvd., with a head injury. The boy’s father said told hospital officials that he and the boy were fooling around when the child fell and hit his head. The boy was getting a CT scan at the hospital.
Police talked to the father, and he said he put the boy in a sleeper hold and the boy hit his head after he passed out. The boy was transported to Oakland Children’s Hospital, and police are investigating the incident.
