Dad with violent criminal record kidnaps kids after "custody dispute" (Middletown, Virginia)

Despite all the warm and fuzzy stories in the media, dad DARYL E. JOHNSON is more typical than not of the kind of dad who goes for custody of the kids. This particular father, though, has a documented criminal record, including assault. The mom reported a history of domestic violence as well; that's why she moved away. So it's no surprise he didn't have the patience to strip this mother of custody legally. Too long of a wait! So he tries to abduct the kids instead. Same result, different means.

Check out the father exaltation here. Was this mother required to maintain phone contact between this idiot and the kids? May be a moot point in Virginia, because if she hadn't, it would have been used against her in any custody hearing.

And how many times do we have to explain this to reporters? A kidnapping is not a "dispute."

Va. Father With Violent Record 'Kidnaps' Two of Five Kids: Cops
Man with 23 aliases, 10 dates of birth and 10 social security numbers follows longtime girlfriend to Middletown, then allegedly abducts sons in custody dispute.

A Virginia man allegedly abucted two of his five children July 6, when he followed his longtime girlfriend to Middletown over a custody dispute, Middletown Police report.

Daryl E. Johnson, 43, of Bridge Road, Suffolk, Va., showed up uninvited at a home in the 1000 block of Town Colony Drive, according to the report. The victim, the children's mother, moved to Middletown June 12 from Suffolk with her five children (ages 4-14) because of domestic violence issues with her 15-year boyfriend, Johnson, father of the children.

She told officers she thought he didn’t know where she lived and allowed him only to call the children. According to the arrest report, Johnson has a long record of assaults, larcenies, escape, narcotics possession and weapons charges; 23 aliases, 10 dates of birth and 10 social security numbers.

The victim said she received a call from Johnson July 6 asking what she was doing, looked outside where the children were playing and saw him sitting on the curb. She rounded up all the children except the 8-year-old, when Johnson followed her, holding the door. He forced his way in, stood in the doorway and told his children to gather their things, they were going with him, police say.

He then allegedly grabbed two boys, ages 8 and 9, told them to run to his truck; and yelled for the others to follow, then drove away. '

Johnson later showed police six petitions for a July 11 child custody hearing in Virginia. He was arrested for two counts of risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct and third-degree burglary. He then complained of possibly heart-related arm pain and anxiety so police sent him to Middlesex Hospital.
