Police: Lorain dad took his son along to buy drugs

LORAIN — The father of a 5-year-old boy was charged for taking his child along to buy drugs — a buy which ended with gunshots, according to a Lorain police report.

An officer on patrol heard a shot fired from the area of West 17th Street and Washington Avenue around 1:10 a.m. July 4. At the scene several witnesses pointed to a Pontiac Bonneville saying it was involved. Inside the car was the driver, a 32-year-old New London Man, and passengers Joseph Kristoff, 33, of Lorain, and Kristoff’s 5-year-old son.

Both Kristoff and the driver told the officer different stories, but after further questioning Kristoff admitted they were buying marijuana in the area, according to the report. Kristoff told police he was shot at during the purchase.

Kristoff was charged with endangering children and released on a summons.
