Once again, Mom has been erased from the story and ignored. Meanwhile, dad IVAN L. CHARLES has apparently confessed to shaking and throwing his newborn son.

A 23-year-old Orange City man was arrested today after he confessed to shaking and throwing his 4-week-old child, Orange City police said.

Ivan L. Charles faces charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect of a child after he was arrested on a warrant this morning.

Orange City Police were notified Sunday of the possible child-abuse case by officials at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial.

During an interview Monday, Charles admitted to injuring the baby, police said.

The child is on a ventilator at Florida Hospital Orlando and is now in the custody of a Child Protection Team and Florida Department of Children and Families, police said.
