"Babysitting" dad charged with 1st-degree assault of 2-month-old son (Kansas CIty, Missouri)

Dad CARLOS L. PHILLIPS is facing 1st-degree assault, child abuse, and 1st-degree endangering charges for "allegedly" squeezing and throwing his 2-month-old son on to a couch. Seems like lately, we've had a whole slew of daddies here who throw babies like footballs. Is it something in the water?

Seems this poor babysitting daddy got frustrated because he was, like, trying to roll a joint, and the baby kept, um, crying, ya know?

KC father accused of abusing 2-month-old

A Kansas City man is accused of squeezing his 2-month-old son hard enough to send the little boy to the hospital, Jackson County prosecutors said.

Carlos L. Phillips, 18, is facing charges of first-degree assault, child abuse and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. The abuse allegedly happened in August 2009, though Phillips wasn’t arrested until Sunday in Carthage, Mo. The boy’s mother said Phillips was watching the child while she was out of the house.

Police allege the boy fell off a counter while Phillips was trying to roll a joint, court records state. Phillips squeezed the boy when he wouldn’t stop crying and then threw him eight feet onto a couch, police said.
