Man Sentenced In Death Of Pregnant Wife, Unborn Child

OLATHE, Kan. -- A man who pleaded guilty to the killing his pregnant wife and unborn child was sentenced on Thursday.

A judge sentenced Jason Cott to two life terms with a chance of parole after serving 50 years in prison.

Cott pleaded guilty to the two murders in exchange for the district attorney dropping the possibility of the death penalty from the case.

During the preliminary hearing, a woman who lived with the couple at a Lenexa motel testified that Cott woke her up on Jan. 20 and said he strangled his wife, Angela Cott, after they got in a fight.

Cott and the roommate dumped Angela Cott's body on the side of a highway in Miami County.

Angela Cott's father said she was a loving, caring person and her 4-year-old son will now have to grow up without his mother. He said he was pleased with the sentence.
