Dad charged with aggravated child abuse, domestic violence, drug possession (Andalusia, Alabama)

Gotta hand it to dad JERRY COWAN. He wins today's Creativity in Weaponry Award hands down. Note that the bail is unusually high for an abusive father. He must have done some serious damage with that bamboo walking cane and steam iron. Was there a mother in this home?

Ala, father charged with aggravated child abuse

ANDALUSIA, Ala. (AP) - An Andalusia man is being held on $2 million bail after being charged with using a steam iron and bamboo walking cane to abuse his child.

Lt. Paul Dean says 48-year-old Jerry Cowan is jailed on charges of first-degree domestic violence and aggravated child abuse.

Dean says Andalusia police were notified by a social worker with the Department of Human Resources, and they interviewed the child at school.

Dean says the child's injuries indicated that numerous items were used.

A drug agent says Cowan also faces charges of chemical endangerment of a child, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
