Dad arrested for shooting 2-year-old son, but gets released so he can be at son's bedside (Skegness, England, United Kingdom)

Isn't this special. UNNAMED DAD is arrested for shooting his 2-year-old son in the neck with an air rifle. The little boy is hospitalized in critical but stable condition. Meanwhile, poor Daddy has been released on bail, just so he can be at his poor little boy's bedside--because all of this must have been an accident, don't you know. (And just how is it we know this was an accident with no investigation?). And given that Dad is a clueless menace at best--or an out-an-out deliberate child abuser at worse--why couldn't Mum be at the child's bedside?

Oh wait. There is no mention of a mum. Is this a single dad or something?

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

Shot toddler stable in hospital

A two-year boy shot in the neck with an air rifle in Skegness is critical but stable in hospital.

The toddler was hurt when the gun was fired in his family home in Winthorpe.

His 29-year-old father, who was arrested after the incident, was released on bail to be by his son's bedside, Lincolnshire Police said.

It is believed the person who fired the gun did not know it was loaded.

The child was initially taken to Skegness Hospital but was later transferred to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, where he underwent surgery to remove the air rifle pellet from his neck.

A spokeswoman said: "Glenfield Hospital have confirmed that the child is critical but stable following surgery.

"The boy's father, who has been interviewed by police at Skegness, has been released on police bail to be with his son at the hospital."
