FAIRFAX, Va. - A Northern Virginia man who admitted fatally shaking his 9-month-old son has been sentenced to 8 years in prison.
Thirty-year-old Herbert M. Price Jr. was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in July.
The father was initially indicted on murder and child abuse charges in January for the death of his son, Dylan M. Price. Prosecutors dropped the child abuse charge in the plea deal.
Price's wife, Stacy L. Maddox, is pregnant with their second child and asked the judge for mercy in sentencing him.
Prosecutors said neither Price nor Maddox called to check on the police investigation for three months after the infant's death, but a defense attorney said detectives had told the couple they would contact them.
