Dad arrested for beating 5-month-old daughter and her mother (Dublin, California)

Dad JOSE MURO has been arrested for what "badly beating" his 5-month-old daughter and the baby's mother. Police say the baby sustained "some pretty good injuries." I guess that's the nice way of putting it.

DUBLIN — A Dublin man has been arrested after police said he badly beat his 5-month-old daughter and 20-year-old girlfriend.

Dublin police received a call from ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton just after midnight Sunday with reports that the infant and woman had severe injuries, said police Lt. Kurt von Savoye.

The woman told police that her 26-year-old boyfriend, who is also the father of her child, had assaulted them earlier that night. She said alcohol was involved in the incident.

"It's a very serious assault," von Savoye said. "It's not life threatening, but the child sustained some pretty good injuries."

Police went to the 3100 block of Finnian Way, where the couple lives, and tried to talk to the boyfriend, Jose Muro, but no one answered the door. When they checked again about 5 a.m. Sunday, Muro was home, but had barricaded himself inside. Officers threatened to send in a police dog if he did not surrender, von Savoye said.

Muro came out and was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and domestic violence without incident or injury. He is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
