Dad arrested for raping 12-year-old daughter after Mom files for divorce (New Delhi, India)

This is fairly typical. Dudes who abuse their wives very often abuse the kids. Kids are especially prone to sexual abuse once the mother is no longer living in the same home as the father, or have initiated formal divorce or separation proceedings.

NEW DELHI: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by two men, including her father, in Kanjhawala area of north Delhi. The girl claims she was being sexually assaulted since January. The victim's father has been arrested, while a hunt is on for his accomplice.

"The arrest took place after a complaint was filed by the victim and her mother on Saturday. The victim's medical examination confirmed rape," a police officer said.

It was revealed that the accused had filed for divorce a few months ago. His wife, however, lodged a case of domestic violence against him. On Saturday afternoon, the victim and her mother had come to the Rohini court to attend the hearing of the case.

The girl told the court that she was sexually abused by her father and one of his friends. In her complaint, the girl said the duo raped her on several occasions and also threatened her. The court ordered police to take action against the father and a case was registered under Sections 376 2(G), 506 (criminal intimidation), 341 (wrongful restraint) and common intention (34) of the IPC.

Police have slapped sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act on the girl's father and the other accused. She was presented before the Child Welfare Committee. Raids are on to nab the other accused, said the officer.
