Father of toddler arrested after the child is found wandering on the street

SPARKS -- The father of a 3-year-old child has been arrested after the little girls was found wandering on the street late laste night.

Last night at around 8:45, Sparks Police Department found a child wandering in the area of Sullivan and Byrd, near the apartment comlex at 1800 Sullivan.. Officers checked the apartment complex and surrounding areas but found no one looking for the child. Officers also tried to have the child lead them to her home, but that was not successful. At the time the child was placed with Child Protective Services.

No reports of any missing child matching this description weren made to Reno PD or the Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

This morning at around 1:30m, David Hart, a 24-year-old Sparks resident, contacted the Sparks Police Department emergency line advising that his 3-year-old daughter had been missing for approximately 3-4 hours. Officers were dispatched to the residence to meet with Hart. The subsequent investigation revealed that his daughter was the same little girl which was found a few hours earier. The investigation also showed that Hart had failed to take the proper steps to prevent his daughter from being placed in a situation where she may be in danger and suffer physical pain or mental suffering.

Hart was arrested and charged with Child Neglect without incident.
