We've posted on this case before.

Note that you have to get nearly to the end of this particular article to discover that MARK WEEKS is in fact the father of the murdered child (had this been Mommy's boyfriend, I dare say this would have been mentioned in the first paragraph). This article also fails to clarify the fact that Weeks was a CUSTODIAL father, and that the mother lived out of state (apparently in California), which we only know from previous news reports. Once again, the media fails to say a peep about how a POS like Weeks got custody of such a young girl, and/or possible moveaway permission.

Mark Weeks appeared before District Court Judge Michael Singer in district court on Tuesday for a status conference.

Weeks was indicted by a district-wide grand jury in July on charges of count one: Murder 1 - Victim under 12/Position of Trust, a Class 1 Felony, and count two: child Abuse – Knowing/Reckless Cause Death, a Class 2 Felony, in the death of Alexis McClain. Weeks was represented by public defender Brian Musell.

District Attorney Bob Watson asked for another status conference to be scheduled for mid-October in order to allow time for the entire discovery (material and evidence) to be presented. Watson stated that he had at the time presented 1,276 Mark Weeks pages of discovery with 25 CDs and seven DVDs; however, he had yet to receive the grand jury transcripts. Those have been released by the court and are in process, he said.

“There will likely be several hundred more,” he said.

Musell agreed with the setting of a future date as it would give him the necessary time to go over all the 1,200-plus pages of discovery.

Judge Singer set 9 a.m. Nov. 2 for the status conference.

On July 8, the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a critically injured female child. The 3-year-old child, Alexis R. McClain, was taken to the Sterling Regional Medical Center suffering from physical injuries. Alexis was taken to the Children’s Hospital in Denver and pronounced dead on July 9.

The Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Bureau of Investigations, and the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office immediately began an investigation after receiving the initial report on July 8, treating the case as a suspicious death.

Mark Weeks is the biological father of Alexis McClain.

Also arrested and indicted on the same counts was Ginger Weeks, step-mother to Alexis. She is scheduled for a status conference in District Court at 9 a.m. on Sept. 7.

Both are being held without bond at the Logan County Detention Center.
