Dad charged in death of 5-month-old son (St. Petersburg, Florida)

Another case of a mysteriously "missing" mother. Was JASON ANTHONY WALKER a single or custodial father? Was Mom working while Daddy played at being an infant caretaker (badly)? We're not told.

Father left child to run errands, charged in death

St. Petersburg, Florida -- A 29-year-old father has been charged in the death of his infant son in July who he left alone to run errands. The boy was found unresponsive in his cradle.

Jason Anthony Walker of St. Petersburg faces one charge of child neglect. The incident occurred on or around July 3 and the 5-month-old boy died on July 5 at a local hospital, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators found that Walker was caring for the boy on July 3 when he left the child in his cradle twice for an extended period of time, while ran errands, the sheriff's office said. When Walker returned home, the boy was unresponsive and lying face down on a blanket.

An autopsy found that the boy died of asphyxiation.

Walker is being held in the the Pinellas County Jail.
