A Corydon man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police accused him of breaking his 2-month-old son’s leg.

The Indiana State police took 24-year-old George V. Tuell Jr. of Hillview Drive into custody on a preliminary felony charge of battery causing serious bodily injury. He is being held at the Harrison County Jail while awaiting an initial hearing.

A state police statement said detectives launched an investigation Sunday after officials at the Harrison County Division of Family and Children reported that an infant had been injured and was being treated at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

No further information about the infant’s condition was available, but authorities were told that the child remains hospitalized, said H. Lloyd “Tad” Whitis, Harrison County’s chief deputy prosecutor.

Although prosecutors still need to review a case report, Whitis said, they expect to file formal charges on Thursday. He said a detective told him that the infant suffered a broke leg after it was twisted.
