A 23-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 2-month-old daughter in Douglas County.
MINDEN, Nev. (AP) - A 23-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 2-month-old daughter in Douglas County.
Sheriff's Sgt. Pat Brooks says Trent Getty waived extradition back to Nevada on Tuesday following his weekend arrest in Sacramento, California, in Ava Getty's death.
The father is being held without bail in the county jail and is scheduled to make his initial appearance Friday in East Fork Justice Court.
Deputies responded to a Gardnerville medical center on Jan. 5 after receiving a report of an unresponsive infant who was brought in by the father.
During an investigation, detectives developed information that the child's injuries appeared to be the result of traumatic child abuse.
The baby died Saturday.
