29-year-old Chad Martin has been sentenced to time in Mesa County Community Corrections.
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.
29-year-old Chad Michael Martin will serve eight years in Mesa County Community Corrections after pleading guilty to child abuse done negligently.
According to Martin, he dropped his 5-month-old son onto a carpeted cement floor when the child pushed away from him. Martin did not seek medical attention for at least 24 hours.
The child suffered a fractured skull and has undergone multiple surgeries, but he is not expected to have brain damage.
Whether or not the incident was accidental was under debate. In addition to a scar on the upper right hand side of the child's face, a bruise in the shape of a hand print appeared on the left side of the face.
Martin is under a no contact order and will remain in Mesa County Jail until a spot opens in Community Corrections.
