Florence man charged in son's death

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) - Investigators have arrested a Florence man in the death of his son.

Multiple media outlets reported that 26-year-old Jerrod Lee Brown was arrested Tuesday and charged with homicide by child abuse in the death of Jerrod Lee Brown Jr.

Brown also is charged with child neglect. Investigators were called to a Florence area hospital Sunday after the boy's death.

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken said an autopsy Monday determined the child died as a result of an internal hemorrhage after a blow.

Lutcken said there was also evidence of prior abuse of the boy.

It was not clear if Brown has an attorney.
