Single dad kept kids locked in rooms for months, deprived them of food (Rockdale County, Georgia)

The single (custodial) dad is identified as LEV DZYUBA. The mother is reportedly deceased. Wonder if Daddy Dearest shelled out similar treatment to Mom, and whether that had anything to do with her death.

ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - A father is now behind bars for allegedly locking his children in their rooms for months.

Authorities say 37-year-old Lev Dzyuba physically and mentally abused his children but it took them more than a year to discover the abuse because he was so discreet about it.

The three children ages eight, ten, and 15 were taken into custody only after someone called the department of family services.

Captain Chris Traylor says the treatment began about a year ago when the children's mother passed away.

"When a 15-year-old child is secured in a room and he can't get out of the room, without somebody letting him out and he's kept in the house and unable to go outside the house," said Captain Traylor.

In addition to cruelty to children, the father has also been charged with false imprisonment.

Authorities say he deprived the children of food, and his two sisters caused excessive physical or mental pain.
